i was interviewed there last month. the interview went well. the IO was a thorough gentleman.he asked questions for an hour from both me and my wife together.of course our answers matched.then he asked my wife to provide the death certificate of her ex husband and for me to submit a birth certificate from my country as i provided it from NY consulate. but the problem is not in providing this RFE but he asked us that we will receive the request for RFE in a mail and have to submit these documents personally and he will let us know about the date of the interview in the mail.now i am freaking out coz i have seen people talking as second interview as stokes interview which is really a nightmare. but from his conversation it we did not felt that he had intentions for arranging a stoke interview for us.any kind soul plz let me know what should i expect in the interview???

***** Several identical topics in different forums removed= please do not post your question more than once. This topic moved to AOS from Tourist... as the OP is adjusting from a B2 visa *****

What visa are you adjusting from?

Any red flags?

Did he actually say there would be a second interview and both of you would need to be present, or just that you needed to bring in the missing documents?

thanks for your reply.

i was on B1/B2 visitor visa.

only red flag is the age difference.

i received a letter yesterday that we will have to see that IO on nov 16 with the missing documents.but in no way during the interview he made us realize that he is going to schedule us for the stoke interview.i am freaking out now to just know the interview will be just a follow up interview or stokes interview

An appointment letter for a Stokes interview would always specifically state that both the applicant and US citizen spouse are required to be present. If the letter says you both have to go then there's a possibility there will be a Stokes interview, and you should prepare for it. If the letter doesn't mention your US citizen spouse then it's probably not a Stokes interview.

If you're truly living together as a married couple, it should in no way be impossible to get through. It would most definitely be stressful, but if your marriage is legit you shouldn't have too much trouble answering the questions. Remember that an answer of "I don't know" is better than something you make up and could get wrong. I suggest you do some research on the Stokes so you know what to expect.

Does the letter specifically state that both you and your wife are to appear to submit additional evidence?

we received form I-72 the yellow page, request for evidence.

on white paper both my name and my wife names are written.to see officer xxxx.

and it is written that you are hereby notified to appear on .....to submit additional evidence(listed on accompanying form I72)for completion of AOS(form i-485).

nothing is written about stoke interview or to videotaped the interview.

my question is that is it simply a follow up interview just to hand deliver the missing documents or the dreadful stoke interview??

any input would be extremly appreciated.

Sounds like a stokes interview, otherwise it wouldn't mention you both having to be there.

They won't tell you straight out whether it's going to be a Stokes interview. You were both asked to personally appear on a specific date to submit the evidence - that's not a good sign. If they didn't want to talk to you then they could have asked you to send the requested evidence by mail. A Stokes interview is a possibility. You should probably prepare for it.
