so confused with I864

Ok I cannot seem to find the answer to this anywhere. My mother is going to be my sponsor, she is married to my father, they file joint taxes. Who fills out what?

Do I have to file form I-864 along with all the other pieces like employment letter/pay stubs/IRS transcripts along with my mother. Or does my mother fill out form I-864 and/or provide all other pieces (pay stubs etc)? Does my dad have to fill out anything at all? So confused. Can someone help me out or point me to a thread where this was answered.

You fill out i864 even if your below income level... sending all the documents that go with it... then your mother will fill out i864 as well sending in her documents and im trying to find a post about i864a... thinking your dad may file that but im putting my disclaimer on your dads bcos idk for sure... ill give you a link...

I have the same situation. If your mom lives with you then she files i864a if she does not live with you then she files the form i864. Both you and her have to send all the corresponding docs and you also have to fill out the i864 for yourself. Your father does not have to fill out anything if the amount between your mom and you is over the 125% over poverty that they ask for.

your mom has to file the i864a because she lives with you. here's the link to the poverty guideline. since you are putting your mom as a sponsor then it would be 3 people in the household. together you and your mom have to make over $23,162. you don't count your dad because he is not filling out a form.

i asked if they were the dependants of the mother not the other way around would that not make a diff in the i864 of the mother?

let me rephrase that... the op said they think they are claimed as a dependent if so the mothers i864 will not reflect just her/her husband if necessary and the intending immigrant will it? also the sisters possibly AND the op if they are all dependant?

So yes my parents do claim me as a dependent, but I do file my own taxes as well. So with my husband included does this mean that my household is six, or is he not included yet?
