I called these pr!cks and asked them if I could change the billing date from the 14th to the 15th. They said no way. Service cancelled. Pretty unfortunate for a company I had service with for 4 years.

We gave up Vonage several years ago. We got increasingly bad quality of service, so much so that people asked us not to call them, they would call us back instead!. When our ISP provider introduced a VOIP phone service we gave it a try and were very pleased with the quality. We cancelled Vonage - and were assailed for the next several months with them trying to get us back. When we explained the bad quality of calls they offered us a newer and better modem. When we asked why they didn't do that earlier to improve the service - which they indicated they knew was bad - they hemmed and hawed and kept trying to 'sweeten' the deal to get us back. It didn't work. It was obvious that they really didn't care to provide good customer service, and only seemed to worry when people complained enough to cancel their service. It sounds like the customer service you received hasn't improved any.

We appreciated Vonage when we were first involved in our long distance relationship (the service was good then), but when they failed to continue to provide good customer service unless you complained about it, they lost us for good.

Check around - you may find that you will get better and more reasonable options than Vonage. You may also find yourself getting approached by Vonage to 'return' once they figure out they aren't getting money from your account any more, even though they cancelled the service.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I actually started a thread in regards of MagicJack Plus and NetTalk Duo. You may want to check them out and see which one works better for you. As far as I know, Vonage charges a monthly fee, whereas MJ and NT charge an annual fee of $29.95. I'm considering canceling my regular land line and keeping MJ+ but I'm still trying it out.

I loved Vonage up until we tried to cancel it a few days after the end of the month... they said we would have to call back a few days before the end of the month to cancel as they couldn't prorate a discount because we had already paid for that month... grrr..

we only cancelled because we both had blackberries and it seemed silly to pay for them plus Vonage...
