Can you wait awhile in between submitting the different sets of paperwork?

I am curious if I can mail out the i-130 and then when it gets approved and the next set of paperwork is sent or emailed to my husband in his country, does that second set of forms need to be mailed out in a certain ammount of time? Or can we take a break and then continue with the process when we are ready? Thanks.

Once the documents are received by NVC, a one year clock starts ticking, and if they haven't heard form you by then,in effect they cancel everything. And if you need more than a year, all it takes is an email or phone call to restart the clock--EASY !!

So I just would need to call/email and we can have extra time if needed? If I don't call/email then they will cancel everything and we would need to start all over again correct? Cool! That is easy. Thank you so much.

11/09/2011 - NOA2 (no RFE's)

11/14/2011 - Petition received by NVC/ Received NOA2 by mail
11/21/2011 - NVC case # received by email/ Got AOS fee by email/ Called NVC to provide beneficiary email
11/27/2011 - Choice of agent (DS-3023) sent to NVC by email
.....took a break from process to delay interview....
01/26/2012 - Payed IV fee
01/27/2012 - IV fee status shown as PAID
02/07/2012 - Payed AOS fee
02/08/2012 - AOS fee status shown as PAID
02/09/ 2012 - DS-230 package sent to NVC (priority mail)
03/06/2012 - AOS package sent to NVC (priority mail)
03/12/2012 - Called NVC and found out about checklist. Sent revision to NVC that same day.
03/16/2012 - CASE COMPLETE!
04/11/2012 - Informed of interview via phone by DOS/ Got P4 email from NVC a few hours later that same day (May 4th)

04/24/14 - Sent I-751 to remove conditions

06/09/14 - Biometrics

11/2014 - RFE from USCIS requesting more evidence before approval

Late Jan - Sent further evidence of marriage

03/05/2015 - Got letter of approval for removal of conditions

03/15/2015 - Permanent 10 yr green card received via mail

As someone who is taking her own sweet time with NVC, I can say that yes, magical is correct. However, you don't need to call and ask for extra time as long as you're under a year from your last communication with NVC. You can even send in forms occasionally and have that one-year clock reset itself.

They have a one year clock, but we have been working on ours 3 years, I just dont let a year go by before sending in the next packet.

Fell in love on a missions trip in 2005, got married in 07, got pregnant and started IR1 visa process in 08, had baby number 2 in 10, and its now 2011, and we are just now finally getting to the end of this long road. (The mail from the embassy never arrives to my home, causing us trouble. Fingers crossed and prayers going up! Both kids born and raised in Mexico and American citizens by CRBA:

His Appointement is October 25th!
