Once you are naturalized, what is the fastest time one can get their new passport? Can we travel with Naturaliztion Certificate to overseas while the new passport is being issued? If not what are the options to be able to travel during the time new passport is being issued?

No you cannot travel with your naturalization certificate in lieu of passport. You have obtain a US passport before you can travel overseas. The fastest way is to go to a same-day passport application facility and apply for a passport. There are few such facilities around the country (Including one Chicago). You can see their list in the state.gov website's passport page. See which one is closest to you, go there with your supporting documentation and apply for a same-day passport (you will get it at the end of the day).

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I am starting Medical school overseas starting in first week January. Sending the N-400 next week. Hoping for the Biometrics in 4 - 6 weeks. That puts it around end of November. That leaves only 6 weeks before I start my school. I can always fly back one day to attend the interview. If I pass the interview then have to look into travel schedule for the Oath and Passport. With each semester in the school being 16 weeks and with 90% attendance requirement, it can get hair rasing experience. Though it is very unlikely, let us see may be I can complete the interview and Oath before January. I wonder if I contact my Senator / Congressmen can help expedite appliation.

Thank you. I'll check and see where the same day facilities are located. Are you aware of any such facilites near Boston area?
