I'm not sure what ages restrictions are for babies, and I know they vary by state, but they are much more relaxed for adopting older children or certainly fostering them. Most people want to adopt babies, but many at-risk children don't become wards of the state until they are a little older.

I don't think it's a whim decision, but I do think it's somewhat of a selfish decision...ask anyone why they choose to have an abortion and most of the reasons start with "I"...it's all about number 1 in these cases.

Doesn't affect me what someone else does with their body. DOES affect me what someone else does to a child's body. A child who cannot defend themself. That bothers me. A LOT. And I don't care whether or not the child is developed or not to live outside the womb. It's a PERSON. Someone's baby. Someone's little girl or boy who they decided was not worth living.

That's your opinion, MissLiss. And you're entitled to it and you are entitled to express is. You should not be entitled to force your opinion on everyone else which is precisely what the pro-life crowd is trying. Laws need to be based on fact. We can't encode into the law what everyone feels, thinks, etc. There's got to be some factual basis for this. As to when there is a life of it's own, there's no factual basis.

I do think it's somewhat of a selfish decision...ask anyone why they choose to have an abortion and most of the reasons start with "I"...it's all about number 1 in these cases.

But isn't the pro-life stance just as selfish?

I am against abortion and that is why YOU can't have one.

Here's a theory... ask everyone who's had one and see if it's always about themselves. I bet everything I own that it's not always the case.

I've only known one person who has had one. And that was because we were in high school and she didn't want to have the baby, didn't want her parents to find out, etc. In college, one of my friends got pregnant by her boyfriend who was still in high school. He actually told her she needed to have an abortion in order to stay with him and he completely denied fatherhood of the child. I'll never forget what she told me-"it's not the baby's fault." It was a very difficult decision for her to keep the baby even though she lost so much-her boyfriend, her opportunity for a college education, etc.

No, but just because I personally know of only one person doesn't mean I'm not familiar with the various other reasons.

again with the generalizations. are you saying that you think that not a SINGLE person who has had an abortion did it for other than the "I" reason?

I am against abortion and that is why YOU can't have one.

I am also against murder and you can't do it. Is that selfish also??

Why are you comparing apples and oranges? And what's your obsession with pushing your belief system onto everyone else by having it encoded in the law? Why can't you accept that not everyone feels and thinks the way you do?

I'm not pushing anything on anyone unless my posts are making you feel pressured. I'm stating what I believe, same as everyone else. People are saying "well, what about this and what about that?" and I'm answering the questions as they come.

As far as apples and oranges, they are not different to me. Abortion in my eyes is murder. As not pretty and unfriendly as that may sound, that's what I think. There is something living, and we take that life. I really don't know how you could see it any other way.

Pro choice here. I do not think the option should be taken lightly by any means. I think it is unwise to make it illegal, the black market thrives of these type of incidents and that is not good for anyone. A couple of my friends have had abortions because it just was not right for them to have a child. Abortion obviously starts with 'I' most of the time because thats who has to make the decision - the woman in question. It is their lives it affects.
