All those guy: O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Savage etc. They're all cartoon characters, none of them should be taken seriously.

Don't stop at just naming Right-wingers.... keep going if you are to be consistent.

Which is precisely why he ought not be taken seriously.

And no doubt the fewer the people that care to tune in.,,,, the more seriously one can be taken?

The format and content have more to do with being taken seriously.

More people will see Transformers in the cinema than will see an Ingmar Bergman or David Lean film. It doesn't mean that Transformers is 'better'.

But by all means - if tabloid rubbish is what floats your boat then by all means knock yourself out.

You're dodging the issue, Danno. You said it yourself - O'Reilly's selling something. Such practice is inimical to the tenets of trustworthy journalism.

You fail to distinguish the news shows from the opinion shows.

Bill O'Reilly is a commentator and entertainer, not a journalist.

His program (the Factor) is an opinion show - it's not 'news'. Neither is Glenn Beck's show, or Hannity's show or any other partisan shows on Fox.

It's a tabloid magazine show interpresed with plugs for O'Reilly's books. Entertainment for some people, but not news.

Well, indeed. This is partly my point.

But 'The Factor' is, nonetheless, an opinion show tacitly granted an undue credence for its presence on a major news network, despite being far more concerned with viewership than holding itself to any degree of journalistic integrity.

That you could not name one show even on MSNBC, shows have vacant your view point is.

I think that post right there shows how vacant your general thought processes are.

Presumably in your world, unless one pays lip service to every shock jock or talk show cowboy out there they are somehow biased in favour of those they do not mention.

Frankly, that's idiotic - but not untypical when it comes to your puerile rebuttals.
