Acknowledged with respect, but again, this might backfire or be used against people who interview at certain consulates. People should consider the future ramifications carefully, is the point.

Agree with T-Bone on this. At some Sub-Saharan Africa consulates this is a no-no.

I wanted to choose our rings together once my fiance came to the states. He sent me a ring but we never mentioned it during the K1 process and it went smoothly. During our AOS interview we showed a pic with our rings over the bouquet as part of our wedding album. That was the first reference to rings during the process.

I think it could be better in a way NOT to have it! You can tell the consular officer you're just saving money towards your future married life in the US :-)

If the beneficiary is the fiance (male) he's not likely to be wearing an engagement ring so I don't see it as relevant.

The engagement party photos may well have more to do with the fact that there were other family in the photos, showing they approved of and witnessed the couple were together. If you follow the guides and take sufficient proof of an ongoing relationship, then you've got it covered.

We were approved in Manila on Friday. They did not ask about a ring. Had no engagement ring. Did have a silver eternity ring that was given as a gift early in our relationship as well as a silver heart necklace. She wares both all the time. Neither one was over $30 usd.
