Is translation of docs for Kiev, Ukraine really needed?

Hi Everyone!!! I finally joined after a couple of months of research and stalking the site And first of all, thank you VJ and everyone that has put such a wealth of information on here to be helful to everyone else. Definitely not an easy process, but the reward will be the sweetest

Last month I sent off the I129 and feel confident that we had everything needed in that big packet, mostly thanks to this forum! I'm trying to look ahead and see what we will need to prepare for when the time comes for the interview. The embassy website for Kiev, Ukraine states the following:

Documents in English, Ukrainian or Russian do not need to be translated. When you arrive for the interview, you MUST present all the original documents accompanied by an English translation, which is produced by a certified translator, only if the document is not in English, Ukrainian or Russian.

I see that VJ says you need to accompany any doc not in English, with a certified translation. Anyone, everyone, that has gone through this process in Kiev, could you please let me know if my fiance will need to get his documents translated? They will be in the languages listed

And on the I134, do I HAVE to list everything that's on that list of stuff (stocks/bonds, life insurance, property, etc)? Or if my income is enough to qualify, would that be sufficient?

Awesome...sometimes I just see conflicting info and that's probably due to the differences in the embassy requirements...wanted to triple make sure they're not going to ask for them all in English Thanks.

I will add that the instruction applies to the Kiev consulate. It does not apply to USCIS. ANY documents not in English which are presented to the USCIS need to be translated.

For the petition (I-129f) this could be her divorce document (if any) former marriage or change of name certificate (if any) or any documents which are needed for the AOS or citizenship process later.

We also talk here about getting other documents translated that will be needed later, mostly health and other medical records, school transcripts and any documents that could be used in future jobs or certifications. It is usually easier to get them translated in Ukraine and cheaper too.

Oh, and welcome to VJ and the process. Be patient, it will come to an end and the two of you will be together. :dance:

Ah #######...so I pretty much guaranteed myself an RFE for not having a certified translation of his divorce document for the I129??? Can it be a copy of the certified translation (say if he gets it there and emails to me)?? They charge pretty astronomical prices for something that takes two minutes to translate here LOL

Very good advice, thank you! and thank you for the welcome It seems like simultaneously time is flying when I look back and dragging in the moment and looking forward...

Alla does translations. She neither charges astronomical prices nor does it take 2 minutes. PM me if you are interested.

Can't be too careful, right? I'm sure I'll get an RFE from USCIS now, but I'm not too worried about when the interview takes place...I don't know how I thought they'd accept it with my note that that's what that document was LOL
