House majority leader Eric Canton states his own frustrations with Occupy Wall Street “mobs” by saying that they were being divisive and placing Americans against one another. Is this just another example of a politician who is out of touch with what’s going on, or is there something more to Mr. Cantor’s comments?

“If you read the newspapers today, I for one am increasingly concerned about the growing mobs on Wall Street and the other cities across the country,” Cantor, the House’s No. 2 Republican said Friday. “And believe it or not, some in this town have actually condoned the pitting of Americans against Americans.”

We have to wonder if Mr. Cantor has lost touch with reality and what exactly people are protesting. Does Mr. Cantor feel that it’s ‘the 99%’ versus the ’1%’ that are pitted against one another or is he trying to make this a liberal vs. conservative issue? The comments that he made perhaps make us think it’s leaning towards the latter. After all with the media continuing the idea of making this an issue of the Occupy Wall Street crowd being the left’s “Tea Party,” it only stands to reason that politicians like Mr. Cantor would weigh in on the issue in such a way. After all it would be almost suicide at this point for a Republican to stand by protesters who might share the same values as someone in the opposite party.

There again, this is probably just another disappointing example of a politician in Washington who refuses to try and connect with what the protesters are worried about. Instead he comes out to create a divisive situation himself. By making the remarks he made, Mr. Cantor has now created a hostile environment to where the protesters aren’t going to take him seriously just as he doesn’t seem to care what they have to say. This is the exact situation that he’s rallying against by the statement he made against them. Isn’t he as a representative of the American people supposed to stand up and give the protesters a fair shake? Did he not give the Tea Party a chance after all?

In 2010, Cantor even stated about the Tea Party:

“I met with several of groups that operated under that moniker (the Tea Party) in Virginia; they’re not all uniform,” Cantor said in his third-floor Capitol office. “That’s part of the beauty of the tea party movement; it’s organic. And it’s certainly not Washington. So I think it’s better left with the people.”

It seems like Mr. Cantor had no problems with the Tea Party voicing their concerns and being their own group. He even said it should be left to the people and not to some political organization. So we have to wonder why he feels the need to bash on the Occupy Wall Street Protesters? A look at his campaign donors might just speak volumes.

Eric Cantor has received donations from the likes of: Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Gensworth Financial, Travelers, Murray Energy, and New York Life. All of these point to the exact people who the Occupy Wall Street protesters are out against. Banking and Insurance Companies who were a part of the problem in our economic downturn and part of trying to block legislation that would restore regulations back into the financial sector that were removed by the end of the Clinton administration with the help of Alan Greenspan. So it would seem that there’s a conflict of interest in looking at the opinion of Eric Cantor when it comes to how he feels about Occupy Wall Street.

With the growing number of people joining the Occupy Wall Street movement, it only stands to reason that more politicians are going to come out to either voice their support or chastise the protesters for what they are doing. A quick look at campaign finances or their affiliations might help us to understand those who are against frustrated Americans voicing their opinions. Like it or not this is a movement that is here to stay for awhile and if Washington insiders are smart, they’ll pay attention. This is especially important for members of both parties who are up for election next year. A large group with a big voice an influence elections as we saw from the 2010 mid-terms. We all know how these congressmen and women feel about their seats, so they better take notice if they wish to keep them.

Steven is either hijacking Gary's Paul's account, or someone ate the kind of mushrooms that turn you into a tofu eating commie overnight.

I just don't like blatant hypocrites.
