Taylor did not deserve to win nor did that Kat... like I said his dancing was ridiculous and he looked completely constipated straining desperately to eject  It would not have surprised me if there was fecal matter all over the place in his wake

Last night was not a competition. You missed all that led up to it, and why Taylor deserved to win.

Do you really believe that Taylor (or Kat for that matter) were the most talented people in this season's Idol?

You can't be serious.

... that large woman with the amazing voice? Mandisa I believe you said she is her name?

Yeah, she was the best. She was awesome!

Taylor was my #1 from the start, (Mandisa and chris right behind) and considering Taylor ...WON and was never in the bottom 3, it looks like a lot of others agreed. SOUL PATROL!

I am intrigued... what did you see in this cheesy character that I obviously don't??? I had not heard Mandisa before and I am gob-smacked... what on earth is wrong with America when someone so smazing gets voted off and a simpering creature and a constipated character make the finals!!!

Elliot and Chris were zillions of times better than him. Also they did not crouch in this manner reminiscent of someone crapping.

I don't think American Idol is really about who is the best singer. It's about who puts on the best show, who the people love the most. Mandisa, Paris, and Chris, in my opinion, had the best voices. But America just wasn't looking for them, I guess. I honestly don't think Taylor has outstanding singing talent...but he's funny, puts on a great show, and has silver hair! What more could we ask for? :D

Some originality??? Honestly MTV/Tv has in many ways killed music for it has stifled originality. I am musically obsessed and I can't say I normally listen to pop these days tbut any signs of being original would be appreciated.

Dunno any of these people, but you ARE right...all these elimination shows are like this...not necessarily the best, just who can play the part the best and at the right time. I mean didn't someone get cut right after he got his hair cut??? That's what people are looking for...an image, not real talent.

Mandisa and Elliott were the best singers and I loved them both...but I have news for you Anita. AI requires that each week they sing a certain type of music...well ###### you should have heard Mandisa trying to sing Country and others...it was bad! What you heard in the finale was her singing her favourite and most suited style of music, she was made to sing 'I'm every woman' and was amazing.

But AI is a competition based on consistancy over 12 weeks and she just could not handle anything much apart from Disco/Balad styles, she was voted off very early, because others adapted better. Elliott, who bless him can sing like an angel but does not look like one, was excellent at singing all styles and that's why he made it to the last 3. I wish he had been in the finale, but he really only showed a personality during the last 4 weeks.

Taylor however has entertained and stood out since the very first time he stepped into the audition playing his harmonica. He outperformed everyone else off the stage, yeh he can't dance, but that's what made him so entertaining to watch. He has charisma, a great instantly identifiable voice, he does not fit the usual AI mould in a million years and he is funny. His performances in the finale were not even close to being as good as during the last 12 weeks, it was the finale! I would say he is probably the most original/different AI they have ever had, I mean who would have believed 6 months ago that the grey haired, soul singing, ####### dancing, harmonica playing dude would win!

As for originality, the AI format does not allow for originality at this stage, that comes later when they get to release a 2nd album in their own style and with their own music on it. If that is what you want and like, I am not sure why you would even be watching AI, especially as you are a progressive rock music fan!!

This has become the 'Soul Patrol' thread and with all due respect we have all watched this show for many weeks. You arrive here now, based on a having seen it 2 or 3 times (and one of those being the finale) and just run Taylor down. Sorry, but for me your opinion can be heard but not taken too seriously. Please don't turn our happy fan thread into a flame thread, have some respect

I enjoy watching the Idol shows, but in my view, Idol is about entertainment, not a search for the next big thing. That is never the realistic result, anyhow.

AI requires that each week they sing a certain type of music...well ###### you should have heard Mandisa trying to sing Country and others...it was bad! What you heard in the finale was her singing her favourite and most suited style of music, she was made to sing 'I'm every woman' and was amazing.

This is what makes the show entertainment, in my view. Most successful artists out there have a style, and they stick to it and do it well. And I buy their albums because I like that style. I am not looking for versatility in my favorite recording artists. When I hear Van Halen is coming out with a new album, I am never hoping it is going to be their spin on Roberta Flack songs! However, I think that the talented contestants on AI are the ones who take whatever genre it is that week, and adapt the song to suit their personal style.

Anyone ever watch Nashville Star?

If someone called Roger Daltrey a jerk or said they can't stand Jethro Tull I would not feel that I had been dis-respected even if it was on an I love Jethro Tull thread. People are entitled to their opinions even if they differ from mine. Obviously this does not apply here. Not my intention to start a flame war... and I guess I will just stay the hell off any threads where people express opinions differing from mine.
