How does VJ make their processing estimates

Hi all VJers. I have a question not for those that have applied. This question is to the people who administer the site. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a valuable tool for all those that need it. However, my complaint revolves around the estimated processing dates that you give. Can you tell me how these are determined. I have seen the CSC dates jumping around like a yo-yo over the past month. I have seen it jump from around 60 odd days up to almost 100 days and then back down to 70 odd days as it is now. It currently says it is processing from the CSC at the 20th of July, which i think is obvious to all those that are following is VERY wrong. Over the past 2 weeks only 3 K1's have been approved, so i don;t know how from only a few days ago it dropped back down.

I know you say it is all based upon members timelines, but if no one has been approved how can you say that and justify the ups and downs. I had great hope when i first saw and started using VJ, but now i think all those that apply should be told it will take at least the 5 months the USCIS states. And if you happen to get yours done quicker then congratulations.

I think a lot more people would not have the false hope that you give them. I am happy to wait and i am waiting patiently, but these ups and downs in your estimated processing dates are making me crazy

They are based on the timelines of the users here, which means they are not completely reliable. They only factor in the users on this site who actually update their timelines. They do not factor in other petitions from people who are not on VJ.

The timeline itself states that it is merely an estimate. USCIS says five months and everyone should assume theirs will take that long. Some people have had their timelines correctly predicted, some people haven't.

It's not there to give anyone false hope. False hope would be telling people that it isn't an estimate and that your case will definitely be adjudicated in that timeframe, which it doesn't say at all. Stop staring at the estimated adjudication dates if it's making you so crazy. Assume five months.

It's not giving anyone false hope at all what you need to do is stop relying on this site for timelines. They are only estimates and only when people update their timelines. What you need to do is go by USCIS correct 5 months and if it happens earlier than woohoo congrats. It's just the way it is. I saw USCIS 5 months and thought damm but ours took 3 months so to save yourself some grief stop looking at guidelines and estimates.
