  1. 1. How do you feel about Occupy Wall Street?

    • I support the protesters.
    • I oppose the protesters.
    • I have either not heard of Occupy Wall Street (until now) or know too little about it to have an opinion.
    • I know exactly what Occupy Wall Street is about but don't have an opinion yet.

That is your default setting Lisa. Every word out of your mouth seems to be dripping with sarcasm or venom. You can tell yourself that you're not acerbic, keep lying to yourself all you want, I couldn't care less.

I'm asking you to defend your statement with what you see as proof; not more sweeping generalizations.

But it's ok...I know in this instance you can't ;)

If I give you a $15,000 loan (that you hypothetically can't pay back) - who is the moron? Who is the one that is at fault?

The government which guaranteed the loan.

I don't disagree with that.

Question - who is the responsible party for you not knowing something you should know?

Well, when you have the same folks that enable such loan to be made to you betting against your ability to actually repay it - i.e. knowing that you won't - then I think you've got at least a good bit of the responsibility properly assigned.

If I'm playing poker with you and know you suck... am I to blame if I hustle you our of your money? Frankly, you shouldn't even be at the table. You're there and that's your bad not mine.

harbor no (or little) ill-will towards the banks who were swept up and saved.

If the banks hadn't been saved, the cost would have been much higher. Bank of America alone

has over a trillion dollars in FDIC-insured customer deposits. Had it been allowed to go

tits up, the taxpayer (FDIC) would have been on the hook for trillions of dollars.

Myth or Fact: Wall Street firms largely escaped criminal charges by the Federal Government.

What criminal charges though? What did they do that was against the law?

That is sobering. 'fight for socialism'????? I mean they're not even trying to disguise it.

This is exceptionally disturbing.

Let's stay with your analogy. It's not that you play a better game but you paid the guy that dealt the cards to stack the decks in your favor. Remember the AAA ratings on these sacks full of junk? That was neither the government nor the borrower. That was Wall Street.

So you let the guy you're playing with tell you how good your hand is? Is you stupid or is you stupid?

Look, what we need to do is have those people be separate. If you rate, you don't play. And vice versa.

The bad decisions of the 99% cost them, no second chance.

No second chance, really now?

Home Affordable Modification Program? Home Affordable Refinance Program? Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives? Second Lien Modification Program?

I smell elitism here like stinky poo-fingers.

Elitism means having brains, apparently.

No, the guy I play with has paid the dealer to stack the deck against me without my knowledge or involvement.

What we need is some sort of liability on the guys that rate. If you rate junk AAA, there's got to be some liability attached to that. And the guy needing something rated should not be the guy paying the guy that does the rating - at least not directly. Naturally, the way it's set up, they'll take their business where they get the best rating and that's a bad incentive if the ratings are going to be good for anything.
