PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

can anyone tell me a DEFINITE ANSWER on this ..

my fiance is coming from marrakech on IBERIA airlines and passing through madrid airport with an overnight stay NOT LEAVING THE AIRPORT AT ALL....then continuing the next morning on another IBERIA flight in the afternoon.

HE WILL NOT BE LEAVING THE AIRPORT AT ALL and will remain in one terminal the entire time. he will have to pass customs because he needs to leave the secure area before his flight the next morning i think.

DOES HE NEED A TRANSIT VISA?!??!?!?!

please let me know if you have had this exact same situation and what you needed. when i tried to call the spain consulate or embassy it said do not call to ask about this.

so i am asking HERE!

thank you in advance for anyone who knows FOR SURE.

Hi,

The Visa will only be required if he leaves the secured area at the Airport. So without it, he will have to spend the night at the secured area. The following day, an Airline representative needs to escort him when it's time to get on the next flight. The Spanish immigration officers are known for being on their worst behavior when interacting with Moroccans, so I would suggest that you call IBERIA Airlines customer service and give them a heads up on what's going on. Good luck.

We did this flight 2 years ago, (Marrakech-Madrid, then on to the US the next day) and both flights were in the same terminal, so no need to even leave the terminal.

I had contacted the Spanish consulate here (in the US) and they told me it was fine, no transit visa needed, esp since both flights were Iberia. If you were transferring from different airlines (i.e Jet Blue to Iberia, etc), then there's a chance the terminal would be different.

So yeah, it was a long #### 18 hours in the terminal, but we found a nice spot near an outlet and watched movies on our laptop.

WOW THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR REPLYS!!!

please tell me one thing...

did you have to leave the secure area because you were overnighting in the terminal?

the reason i ask is ....i am meeting him in the madrid airport on the day he arrives . i am coming in from the US.

i will be coming in to the iberia terminal but i dont know if i can stay there until the morning. i am coming in on american airlines.

will we be able to get together OUTSIDE OF SECURITY? and spend this 18 hours together?

does that mean he will have to pass through customs and immigration?

sorry i didnt make it clear in the first post exactly what we want to do..

i want to fly back with him but only from madrid to miami.

not all the way from morocco.

THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

No, you don't have to leave the secure area. There's really nowhere else to go. A lot of travelers were there just waiting overnight for their morning flights. It's the international terminal, so since you're coming from the US you'll just end up meeting in the same terminal.
