boyfriend soon to be fiance applying for tourist visa

Hello everyone

My boyfriend is a immigrant in canada. He been to usa before but decided he want to live in canada instead. So he went through the process of canada immigration for a permanent residence and he is getting that, he is just waiting on them to call him to pick it up.

Long story short he want to come to the usa to see me. In canada they give this travel document thing that look like a passport which he can use to present to go anywhere. The thing is he has a tourist visa already however they told him if he want to come to the usa before they call him regarding his PR card, he will need to reapply for a visa and cancel the one he got on file. So we decide to reaply.

My question is canada doesn't have tourist visa. The option on the application was either fiance visa, spouse visa, or exchange visitor or other. Should he chose fiance?since that is why he will be coming to the usa for?

11-27-09 : AOS recieved and being review(per AVR)

12-07-09 : DS-3032 Accepted

12-07-09 : IV bill gerenated

12-08-09 : Rec'vd IV bill

12-09-09 : Rec'vd checklist for missing/incomplete document on AOS(by email)

12-10-09 : Send missing/incomplete document

12-11-09 : Paid IV Bill

12-11-09 : Documents arrived at NVC

12-14-09 : IV bill status change to PAID

12-15-09 : NVC rec'vd checklist documents

12-18-09 : Retrn DS-230 package

12-21-09 : DS-230 pckg was delivered and signed by N VISA

12-22-09 : DS-230 recieved and being review

12-18-09 : I-864 Accepted

01-04-10 : Login Fail

01-05-10 : Case completed

02-09-10 : Interview date issue for MARCH 2th

02-18-10 : Medical done and got result on the Feb. 25th

03-02-10 : INTERVIEW COMPLETED

03-23-10 : POE ARRIVED @ 12:28 IN FL

Canada does issue tourist visas for non-canadians. See here: http://canada.usembassy.gov/visas/visas/categories-and-requirements/tourist-travel.html

A fiance visa is a 6-9 month process which results in a non-immigrant visa with permission to adjust status in the US to that of permanent resident. If he is really just coming for a visit, that is not what you want. If he is trying to marry you on this trip and move to the US, then you must apply for a fiance visa.

Permanent residents (aka landed immigrants) of Canada must have a nonimmigrant visa unless the permanent resident is a national of a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), meets the VWP requirements, and is seeking to enter the U.S. for 90 days or less under that program./quote]

You don't want to choose fiance visa because that is the K-1 visa and immigration route. If he's only coming to visit you in the US, it would be on a visitor's visa depending on which country he is a citizen of.

He is just coming for visit and he is filing a ds-160 form. Is that the right one or can someone please link me to an electronic aplication for visa in canada, montreal? Please
