I just want to add this link for those who think using the threat of denying immigration benefits/holding the threat of deportation over your alien spouse's head isn't considered emotional abuse:

The wording you have quoted to link the thread in question is not correct, that is NOT why she VAWA'd. She VAWA'd for being denied immigration benefits for FIVE YEARS. Please read the OP before trying to twist it to fit your agenda.

The OP (of this thread) has been married five MONTHS and his wife is DYING. Sure, give it a go but I hope it doesn't work because he cares more about the GC than his dying wife, and applying for VAWA will show just how despicable he is.

Again, I didn't say that I'm trying to defend the OP in any way.

There were several posts in this very thread stating that Denial of immigration benefits is not basis for a VAWA claim. The linked thread is just one example to disprove that.

Here's the thing, GO HOME. I just don't understand why you would choose to stay in an abusive relationship just to get a greencard. It just screams fraud to me. If you're in an abusive relationship, LEAVE. I completely agree with everyone else that she's been diagnosed with something that, without treatment will KILL her. How can you be so concerned with yourself? Why are you not working hard enough to get medical insurance for her? Why are you not working to earn money to pay for insurance? She's probably scared you're going to leave her now that things are tough and you're proving that you are. I feel bad for her. I would be scared out of my mind and probably in her mind she's torn between staying married to you to get you your GC, and also between divorcing you so she has health insurance again... I'm sorry but if I couldn't afford health insurance or find a way to get it and my husband needed it or he would DIE and divorce would get it for him I would divorce him. Plain and simple. You seem more concerned about your GC than her health.

I had no idea you will get so sentimental over my one statement ... now here is the situation i have fond her a health insurance yes she is being treated now SHE IS NOT GONNA DIE WITH OUT A TREATMENT . without any legal status hard to find a job .on top of that i have to take care of all the bills utilities and etc ..that why it took me that long to come up with some money and get the health coverage thanks to obama health reform NOW its possible to get coverage with pre existing conditions. kinda expensive though but its ok .. yes i realized i dont have a vawa case so i m not filing for it ....... she has already has withdrawn i130 i would be in removal proceeding any time soon probly be deported . SO HOPE YOU AND MY WIFE WOULD FEEL BETTER NOW.
