Thanks everyone. Pretty shocking.

Oh wow. I'm very sorry to hear that. I came here just to check to see what was going on with your situation. Wasn't expecting that at all. Very shocking. I'm sure it will end up all for the best in the end. But yeah that's shocking.

We put a service request in almost a month ago and heard nothing other than "we will pull your file, we will get back to you within 45 days". More waiting.

we finally received a response from uscis:

"Type of service requested:

-- Outside Normal Processing Times

The status of this service request is:

This notice acknowledges receipt of your status inquiry concerning your pending I-485 application. We recognize your interest in a final adjudication on your pending application and are aware of the difficulties caused by any delay in processing. The California Service Center is committed to processing this workload, and will be making every effort to adjudicate your case in an expeditious fashion as soon as available under our resource constraints."

This response is a load!!

That's annoying to hear when you've paid for a service.

We got the same and so have many others lately. Its their latest "we don't give a @#$*, and aren't going to check if we even have your application" answer. Its as much a bunch of BS lies as the transfered for faster processing was. It might have sped it up at the local office, but it certainly slowed things down for those transfered.

After the Service Request put trough my local office here in CT, (not through Customer Service phoneline) I was sent the same letter a couple of weeks later. However two more weeks from the letter my case was updated to "approved" and just received the card this monday!

I was wondering whether that Service request issued by my local office helped. Why don't you guys try the same? maybe CSC put things up to speed that way. Good Luck!

How do we go about opening a service request?

Just call the USCIS information line. If you are outside the normal processing time of your local USCIS office then they should put in a service request for you (even though your local office has nothing to do with your case). Or you can make an Infopass appointment.

However I put in a service request a month ago and still have not been approved. Inquiries made by my representative don't get anywhere either - CSC says that they have 6 months from the day they received the transferred case to process the file (not date of application), and it looks like they will use every single minute of that.

I used infopass and showed the local official how unefficient the guys from Customer Service phone line are. The offical put a Service request right on the spot.

I knew the local office in CT had nothing to do with my case transferred to CSC, however the rep on the phone told me that my case should be in CT and makes no sense to be in California ( that shows they have no clue of what they do). This is why the local officer put the request and gave me a Service request number for follow up. I am not sure whether it helped speed my case of not but curiously weeks later I got the Green Card. Worth the try I guess.

FYI: My husband and I separated, I went back to Canada, then back to cross the border today, and the CBP informed me my husband pulled his I-864....without telling me, and no, USCIS does not inform you right away. It's been nice knowing you. Good luck to you all and hope your approvals come through soon.

*Hugs. Stay strong!
