October 2011 AOS Filers!

It's definitely going to be 4 months from transfer. So it looks like it's going to be April instead of February. At least Colin is working now though. It's still frustrating because there is always that "what if it's denied" thought going through my head. He comes here, we get married, settle down very happily, he gets a job, life is looking ok then BAM!!! sorry, you're denied. It's my worst nightmare. We used all of our savings applying for the K-1, AOS, plane tickets, etc. He would have to go back to England. I don't think I could survive that.

Hi Lori,

I know its easier said than done, but please try not to worry. People who are adjusting status after overstaying or being out of status for a number of years may face the fear of denial. However, your husband came to America legally and legitimately on a K1 visa, in which the sole purpose was to adjust status after marriage. He wouldn't have been issued a K1 visa if he hadn't passed all the background checks prior to his arrival :)

When I was awaiting news on my GC I called USCIS on 1-800-935-9935

The way I got through to speaking to an actual person was by not responding to any of the prompts, the computer will then think you're on a rotary phone and send you through to a Tier 1 representative. It will most likely send you through to the Spanish speaking line, if you want to speak English simply say "English Please".Have your alien # and case # ready.

LOL ooooops I'm so sorry...I guess you now know who I bank with! :P Your case is most probably in Minneapolis, but when I called for updates on my case I was told that my case had gone back to New York my local office. I was kind of aggravated by this so kind of ended the call without asking too many questions. I called back the next day and asked to be told when exactly it was transferred back to my local office. I was transferred to a Tier 2 representative who is an actual immigration officer. She was really annoyed as she said I had been given completely wrong information and told me it was still very much in CSC! 2 days later I was approved at CSC without interview. I'm not saying USCIS are wrong and it could very well be in Minneapolis, but I'd double check if I was you.

it looks like it, except for EV11. i was looking at the VJ timelines for approved AOS (CSC transfers adjusting from K1) and most of the people approved are in the East area. i called USCIS again, i think a week ago. the tier 2 said to call them back on April if i didn't hear anything back by that time.
