I have just been offered the most amazing job and I start Monday! I am so excited!

I agree with Max1gk, I put my resume on monster.com and careerbuilder.com and 2 employment agencies took me under there wing. They are temp agencies but there are permanent opportunities available as I found out. A lot of jobs through these agencies are temp to permanent, however after 3months or so you can get a permanent job offer at the company and I guess its a good way to get your foot through the door. I'm not saying this to blow my own horn but through these agencies I got 3 solid job offers, so they definitely work hard to find you something (of course they get commission :P ).

Good luck with your job search ONA :)

Oh Gabbi that sucks! At least they are fixing their mistake I guess. I'll be praying you get your GC waaaay before that!

Normally you get a letter in the mail that your case is being sent to CSC, as well as an update on your case on the uscis website (and text and emails if you have signed up for that), but when it is received by CSC there is just an update/text/email, no letter in the mail.

Hello islandnook23

I signed up for email notifications on the USCIS website so that when my case was transferred to the CSC I got an email as well as a hard copy transfer notice in the mail. Yet when it was delivered to CSC I only got an email notification, no hard copy. If you didn't sign for email/text notifications, that will be why you didn't receive anything. If you did sign up for email notifications I still wouldn't worry as their notification service isn't the most reliable.

Congrats EV! :)

Thanks Max1gk! :D

After the EAD arrives will I need to go to the social security office and just ask for a new card? My current one says I'm unauthorized to work. Does it matter? Would I need to show it to an employer or is it just for government records?

no, you just need to show EAD card with SSn. The SSN is yours for life. YOu need to show both to employer until you get ur GC. :)

In other news, just got a status update-- they re-MAILED my card today :D I can't believe my good luck!!! I give thanks to any of you that even thought about me for one milli-second. :)

If your card says "valid for work with DHS authorization" then it's OK. I would think that if it says "not valid for work" then yes it would need to be changed. You will need to show it to your employer and they will take a copy of it. If you're female and changed your name when you got married, the card will need to be changed. It takes a couple of weeks between the EAD card being issued and it showing up in the SSA system, when I went to change my name with my EAD card it didn't show up yet, but they took copies of my documents and checked with USCIS and the card was sent out a few days later. It still says "valid for work with DHS authorization".

Jingo, I would say go to the SSA office AFTER you get your green card. For the purpouse of legally working you don't have to do nothing else. That is just to have an unrestricted social security card like every other American and resident :) I'm going on monday to get a new card

Its funny how one's who were transferred to CSC for "Faster Processing" are still waiting... :(

But congratulations anyway. Enjoy it for next 2 years.

I agree, it seems like "faster processing" actually means much slower GC, though I figure the sooner we get the GC, the sooner we must file for ROC, so I don't mind waiting this time!
