Neither. I have a friend who is friendly with her boss and has me as a "shoe in" after Christmas.

It's a shitty job (cleaning rich peoples houses, believe it or not!) but it pays well for the hours.

Enough to get me into EMT school which is my next goal.

I wish I was 'rich people'. Damn that 1% :P

Anywhere from 2 weeks to a month is what I had gathered from previous posts.

Yea I suspected that, thanks Yagisama. I really wonder what's it about..my only concern is that they won't put on hold also my EAD that was approved just 2 days ago.

I doubt it will have any effect on the EAD.

AOS RFEs tend to deal with the medical supplements or the affidavit of support. What proof of citizenship do you suspect is the issue?

hello everyone. im new here! iv been following this thread for quite sometime now. i am an october filer too. my hubby sent the aos package to chicago lock box last oct 24 and was received by oct26. i already did my biometrics last dec8. its been a weel already and no update yet on the uscis website. would it make the process easier? because we only filed for i485 alone, we no longer filed for the EAD and AP since i dont have any plans of working and leaving the country soon. i was hoping too get my green card faster than anyone else 'coz i only applied for the adjustment as a permanent resident? hope somebody could tell me something that would enlighten my thoughts. god bless everyone =)

mmmm I can't possibly imagine what could be wrong about the medical worksheet. I got a bunch of stapled medical papers (marked complete) from the Embassy and they told me to ship it once I would have applied for AOS. My only concern is about the evidence of status in the US of the household member (my wife's father): I know for a fact that technically It's not required, but I saw a Canadian petitioner here who got an RFE at the end of October exactly for that. Anyway I'll wait for it to come in the mail and I'll post here

Hi iammrslab,

unfortunately there's nothing fast when it comes to USCIS. Processing times for the I-485 are independent from the fact that you filed or not also for EAD and AP. The average waiting for a SMOOTH K1 related AOS process seems to be around 2 months and half from NOA1 so I would start hoping for something after the first week of January. Good luck btw and no RFEs!

thanks. i do hope there wont be any RFEs for me or any other problem that may occur. i still have one more problem though. in case i will be called for an interview, would they require to have my husband come with me? i am afraid yes, because he wont be around til mid next yr. he is currently deployed as of the moment. so he could not accompany me with that interview. so as i read that some do not get any interviews and just received their GCs after being transferred to CSC. keeping my fingers crossed! I really want that GC soon before the year ends hopefully. it would be the best Christmas gift for me if it happens. =)

Got an email today. My EAD is in production.

I wish it was my GC but hey ho. :) Beggers can't be choosers eh? :D

How long after production notice do we usually receive them? I have a job lined up and ready to go.

What's the next step after I get the EAD - do I have to go to the SS office?

Yes..after the EAD, you can apply for a social and then you will get it in the same week if you as lucky as i was :)

Then you can work...

My next step is getting my DL tomorrow (pray for me!) and buying my car for xmas..THEN ill get a job..i live in the suburbs there is no way i can get to work without a car.

Good luck.

Should say right on your social " valid for work with DHS authorization" or something laming those lines, that's why you can't work. I got my ssn the week I came over, I had it before I even sent my AOS

D&K DO NOT use your SSN to work without first getting your EAD,cause USCIS will be notified automatically via computer

Hi there, and welcome! I think the reason that most people apply for EAD as well as GC is because technically, green cards can take up to two years to get, where as EAD is usually no longer than 3 months. I don't know why this is, or if this is still the case, but this is what I was told so it is often safer to just apply for EAD and AP since it could take while for GC and you can't leave unless you have either AP or GC. I think having AP even if not used makes people feel more secure for "just in case" they need to leave the US. Anyway, it looks like lately GC's come through shortly after EAD approvals anyway, so probably nothing that will concern you, just a bit of info. :)
