The way I see it he designed a series of disposable fashion accessories. More power to him for doing such a good job at duping people into believing they needed it all.

Start listening at approx 0:58, go till the end for the real mentality of Steve Jobs .....

RIP Steve Jobs (F). You were human with human failings, but you had an uncanny ability to intuit consumer preferences for technology. You will be missed.

Sorry, it was so ridiculous I had to say something. Learned my lesson though.

Steve Jobs was money smart he knew how to make his customers wait in line and camp out in front of store for new products and he had new products lines up every 6 months to make his customers buy buy buy and make him rich.

you should know enough then to know that Apple PCs are severely overpriced and more hype than anything else.

The same equivelent system can be built for a fraction of the cost. The only thing 'special' about Apple PCs is Mac OS, which in itself is OK, but unless you're planning a career in video editing, they are a waste of money.

They've been nothing but for fanboys for the better part of a decade or more. It's why Apple was failing horribly until Steve came back and they were able to create the "iPod." It's the one 'true' product that apple has made in the last 20 years that's worth a damn. It's a stellar and superior product.

Take into account iTunes though? Abysmal piece of software and a rip-off to anyone who uses it and doesn't back-up their music right away. On top of that it's in a proprietary format which doesn't make it easy for average users to take their music between mediums.

The iPod helped to boost Apple PC/Notebook sales once again, but there again you are paying $2,000 for a unit that you could build on your own for $1,000 and still have the same exact "alleged" protection that an Apple PC gives you.

It's all a rouse, a farce, and a flat out load of ####### that Jobs was this great guy. He was a con-artist and a damn good one at that.

I'll break my own rule, yet again, just to put to rest some of the wildly unsubstantiated claims a few people have made in this thread.

Mr. Jobs contributed more to usability standards than any other individual in the history of computing. He was among the inventors of the modern the user interface, in fact. You can thank Jobs for the convenient UIs in all of your devices today, as his initial developments in this area greatly influenced and continue to influence all devices. Jobs was the first designer/developer to focus on simplicity and usability in order to allow the masses to benefit from computers. Don't just take my word for it, take a minute and look at what some of the great minds in software and design have to say about his contributions (Bill Gates, Joel Spolsky, Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Ballmer, Steve Wozniak, etc, etc). There is no one, I repeat, no one who has even a shred of competence or knowledge in the field of software development or design that would agree with your assertions. What you have said cannot be backed up with facts, at all, and is completely and utterly ridiculous. This is yet another topic you are commenting on that you clearly have absolutely zero knowledge of.

actually, i have plenty of knowledge in this area, thank you very much.

You on the other hand lack an ability to read. Re-read what I'm talking about. I'm talking about Apple's products that were put out, the he helped to put out.

No one is denying his contributions to the world of computer development. Only a fool would do so.

I'm merely stating the farce and rouse of the Apple products that were put out there.

You can't say he made major contributions to the computing world and, in the same breath, bash apple products. The vast majority of his contributions initially took the form of Apple products. You are ridiculous, as I said. And please, for the amusement of myself and others in this thread, let it be known how and why you are qualified to discuss this.
