EAD Replacement E-Filing

Question: When you efile for EAD replacement is the pdf an official receipt or do I need to wait for the mailed version? And does it say anywhere on it that it is a replacement and not application or extension?

Background: So my EAD, first one applied through as part of AOS, may be lost in the mail :'( EAD Approved Sept. 13, EAD notification (with actual card maybe?) Sept. 19th. Called USCIS and they said to call back October 20, 30 days after but I'm trying to be prepared in case it really is lost. Most people would say just wait for interview and GC but I have a paid internship offer and they can only wait for me until October 31st. If it is not sent back to USCIS I will have to get replacement, and pay the full amount, anyway and looking through the I-9 handbook it says: "Acceptable receipts an employee can present are: A receipt for a replacement of a lost, stolen, or damaged document". Page 5 and 6 USCIS Handbook for Employers

So I figure that maybe if I do e-file then the pdf receipt should be valid to present to the employer, and that within the 90 days I will either have the EAD or the GC. But if I have to wait for a paper notification I might have to so this now to make sure I receive receipt in time but what if my first EAD is found and re sent I will have paid extra money for the replacement.

I'm contacting employer HR department about this and senator's office as maybe they can get a little more detailed information from USCIS. All the person on the phone would say was to wait to see if maybe it is returned and that they had no updates though a memo from USCIS says they now are sent with tracking number. Secure Mail Memo

You already have a receipt. It's that NOA you got when you filed.

Whether or not your potential employer will accept that is hard to say. A "lost" card means re-issuance of a card you once had in your possession. But - you can't argue that lost in the mail is - well, pretty lost.

Have you asked them?

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Has anyone had to apply for a replacement GC or EAD because it was lost in the mail?

My case update:

Called USCIS again, and all the person will do is say that on Sept. 19th I was sent an approval notice and that if in 30 days I don't receive the approval notice then to call. And he wouldn't give me any info on what steps would be taken from that point on.

When asked if I could apply to replace the card since neither I or they have it, he insisted that the card would be mailed out after I received the approval. Which from people's experience on VJ is not true. Some never get the approval letter or it usually comes with the actual document. I tried to argue that my card was ordered production Sept. 13 which means the 30 days are up two days from now. But he replied that it was 30 days from 20th of October. really??

I sent the link to employer about taking receipt for replacement card and they're going to review it and give me a decision. Have meeting with congressman's aid on Thursday. Senator's office received my privacy statement and case was "being looked into". :help:
