Montreal - People who have booked interviews recently

The last group that got to book appointments in Montreal it was late Oct appointment I believe. You will have to look at the many threads.

There are issues with Montreal not opening many appointment times at all so the people waiting for appointments are watching for them like hawks so they don't miss an opportunity again.

we've been watching the website diligently for almost 3 weeks now (day and night) and Montreal has no appointmetns at this time. they state that they open them randomly but will not tell you when. And I've heard that often the appt once you get it - is 3-4 months out......looking at early winter now I guess which is not great. If they ever open up blocks. All you can do is wait and expect 3-4 more months where ever you may be. It's reality for the Montreal consulate as they are very very backed up I have heard with interviews.

Not sure if you are aware of this but you don't have to "physically" wait for your PKT 4 letter to arrive before you book your interview. Call DOS to find out if it's first - been logged, if it has then you can call every few days to get a status. When they tell you that your Pkt4 has been sent you can book your interview then. Otherwise you're waiting for it to arrive in the mail - and you could miss out on an interview block should Montreal release one. The phone number for DOS is 1-202-663-1225 and the prompts you choose are 1 - 4 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 0. Good luck! Patience is a virtue when trying to book your interview. :)

Thats the norm for Montreal. It has been this way for YEARS! Probably more so 2006 onwards! Now one has the extra frustration of picking an open slot, if ya can find one!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I've noticed after lurking here for awhile that people usually grab interviews about 3 months ahead of the day they book them, but there are exceptions (sometimes earlier, sometimes later). That's from when it's booked though, and who knows when Montreal is going to release dates?

Also, I just want to re-iterate what Soulmates said- DON'T wait to receive Packet 4 in the mail. It's common for people to not even receive Packet 4 from Montreal, or to receive it very late. As soon as Department of State tells you Packet 4 has been logged or sent out you can book an interview.

Thanks guys, yeah I know I don't have to wait for Packet 4, but I doubt Montreal has even received/logged Packet 3 yet. I'll have to call tomorrow to ask.

I was just curious when I could expect an interview date for, assuming I book soon. I got my answer though: about 3-4 months. That's about what I was expecting hopefully my initial prediction of Jan-Feb isn't too far off. I'd LOVE to have my visa in hand by March, but we'll see if Montreal cooperates. Thanks for the info!

I express posted my Packet 3 on September 23rd, it arrived in Montreal September 27th and they mailed out my Packet 4 letter saying to book interview on September 28th and I received it yesterday. I was in shock... Now if only they would open up appointments! As if I have time at work to be refreshing 24-7 LOL
