Wife is visiting Philippines

Hi,

My wife is in the Philippines ow visiting her family, she will be coming home next week. My wife came here originally on a K-1 visa and currently has a greencard (less than 2 years). Our question is, when my wife goes to the airport in Manial to come home, does she get in the non-immigrant visa line? Will she have to pay a travel tax, if so about how much? She will have one carry on bag and one bag checked, she will be flying by Cathay Pacific, will there be excesive baggage fees?

I thank you in advance for any help,this is my wife's first trip home since coming here over a year ago so we aren't sure about exactly how this works.

well the baggage fees has to do with the airline not immigration, and travel tax...never heard of any travel tax except taxes by the airlines, she should stand in the resident passport control line, because she is not a resident, she shouldn't have anyexcess baggage fees if her checked bag isn't over 20kg's and the carry on isn't over 7kg or exceed 56x36x23cm (22x14x9 in) in size

She has to pay the terminal fee which is 750 php and travel tax for 200php as she is greencard holder.

She will need to pay travel tax & terminal fee.The fees will paid at two different windows. The travel tax will be 1650.00PHP and the terminal fee will 750.00 PHP.I was just there with my wife last week so I know these are the fees needed at this time. Hope this helps.

There should be an exemption for the travel tax for US permanent residents where she would pay a reduced fee. Just be sure and mention it when she goes to the counter to pay her travel tax.

Most international flights still allow two checked bags, you will need to check with her airline to make sure.

I fly often on Cathay Pacific - my choice of airline.

If she is flying economy on Cathay, then her free baggage allowance will be 2 checked bags (50 lbs each) AND a carry-on (15 lbs), so she is fine. And if flying in the premium classes - the baggage allowance is more generous. If her one check bag is over the weight limit of 50 lbs - they may let it slide if it isn't over by much.
