Hi All!

I had a question regarding the translation of certain documents to English. Does this need to by done by a goverment certified translator and be notarized etc., etc.... or is it okay to just have a professional translator do the translation? Any advice regarding the translation of documents for the K1 visa will be greatly appreciated! (FYI the translation is from Spanish to English)

Just a professional translation should do it.

For example I am translating all my documents my self. My fiancee is in Ukraine and she got documents in Ukranian and Russian. I am fluent in both of those languages including english.

If you are fluent in Spanish you can do a translation yourself as well. Just certify that you are fluent in both languages.

Thanks

I had my documents translated/notarized in one office that did both (also Spanish to English). And no, not a government certified translator. A professional can translate the papers and that is more than sufficient. Some people say that notarization is not necessary but I think that it may be beneficial if the cost is not too much. I paid $20.00 for the translation and notarization was free.

What documents are you talking about?

Are you just sending the I-129F or are you getting ready for the interview? cause, if I recall well, you only need to get translated the birth and police certificates and thats for the interview stage...I have the templates for those translations if you want them  let me know, this is my email kai_47@hotmail.com I'll be more than glad to help you in all the process

God bless you!
