my wife is filing for me a i-130 and we have gotten to the stage where i should send civil documents in i did and they complain about my police report the thing is this i live in Nigeria at the moment and am a Ghana pls all i want to know is that will i have to get both police report for Ghana and Nigeria then how can i get a certified marriage certificate.... i will love to see someone to put me through thank....

I am willing to be of Help.Where did you get marry? If its a registered court then you shouldnt have any problem in getting the marriage certificate.Yes, you will need to get both countries police reports.I will advice you to also have your interview in Lagos due to the current backlog of immigrant visa petition interviews in Ghana.I went through the same process the only different is the verse versa of your case.I am a Nigerian but lived in Ghana for several years, I even got married in Ghana but Had a change of Embassy to my home country Nigeria due to the delays In Ghana.If u did get marry in Ghana the certified marriage certificate shouldnt be a problem, You can always request for extra copy which is exactly what I did,It is usually long and very easy to acquire at AMA(Accra MetroPolitan Assembly}Depending on where u got married.If its Kumasi it will be KMA and if its at TeMA it will be TMA etc but if u did get marry in Lagos Iam sure they will be able to provide u with the certified copy.You Can get a Copy of ur Police reports at Sankara,Police HeadQ in Accra and that of Lagos at Alagbon, Ikoyi.I hope it Helps.All the best

i solidly agree with romnick, jst go to the country were u got married, and walk into any court and ask them to certify your marriage certificate. then get a police clearance from both countries. nigeria police cert expires after 3months or 6months, cant remember, so do it like a month or two before your interview.

You will only be able to interview in Nigeria if you are a legal resident that country.

Am not legally a residence I am just schooling here.

you get interviewed in the country you are citzen.. if its ghana.. then you have to go to ghana.. you can't really get out of that one.. since thats where your paperwork will be...

The goodnews is that Ghana is beginning to move so you may as well have your interview done there cos it may likely result to some dramas since u arent a legal resident of Nigeria.The Nigeria police Clearance is good for 1 year in the Embassy's System(Lagos) even though it says 3months on the Actual Police clearance from Lagos.I dont know how long its good for in Accra but that of Ghana doesnt have an Expiration date the last time I checked(Last year Precisely)I wish u all the best.I have provided u with the best info I have.

Incorrect, if a citizen of country A is legally residing in country B (and that includes going to school), then that person will be allowed to interview in country B.

Am not legally a residence I am just schooling here.

What I mean by legally residing is that you are authorized to be in the country. Going to school counts as legally residing.

Ok then thank you all for your help so if I want to move the interview down to nigeria how will I go about it or what will do to move it down to nigeria if I want to move it down at all cos a friend that went to usa from nigeria recently say Abuja embassy is so good but never the less any embassy is good I will all keep you posted am so greatful
