I met my fiancee on Korean Cupid, an internet dating site which I had used off and on for a couple of years. We started writing to each other in Sep 2005 and pretty quickly knew we wanted to meet...so I went over there in January and there he was at the airport.

Then next minute a hand came down from behind me with a red rose in it and it is placed on my suitcase. (F) I hear this voice in my ear, "You looking for me Lady"" and looked up into the most adorable brown eyes and the knew right there and then and he was 'it'.

I love that! You made me aww out loud at work :)

Oey, I'm going to get roasted over a spit fire for this one! I met Felicity through a friend in 2004. My friend and I were planning to go out to dinner, and my friend brought Felicity with her. We all hung out for a few hours after dinner that night, and exchanged MSN names, and never really thought any thing of it for a while. Then Felicity started messaging me in late November/early December. I was going through a rough spot in my relationship with my then-girlfriend at the time, and she was always there to listen, and offer suggestions. After talking most nights for a few months online, then moving to phone calls, she was talking about coming to visit for a week or so on her way to New York for the summer. A few weeks later, she admitted that she'd started developing an emotional attachment, and was falling for me. So, she came in on the evening flight from New York, and there I was pacing nervously by the baggage claim at the Lexington airport, when I saw her coming down the escalator, and I FREAKED. I was too nervous to go over and talk to her (I was shaking, and just stammering.. I mean, damn, she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen, even for spending 12 hours in an airport and on a flight :luv:), so I just waited outside the bathroom after she went in. But after she came out, the way she looked at me, smiled, and hugged me is something I'll cherish and remember forever. Everything in the world just felt so right at that moment. She stayed for a week or so in June, then came back for almost 2 months right before Labor Day.

There ya go.. You asked me what time it was, and I told you how to build an atomic clock. :jest:

I was in msn chat talking to a girl I knew. Got up to get a drink and came back to see her talking to this guy she knew. I started talking to him a bit. Then left. A few nights later I saw him again and we talked a bit. About a month later Oct 16, 2004, I kept thinking about him, not sure why...intuition maybe....so I looked everywhere for him and found him. I had changed my screen name so he did not know me. I refreshed his memory and we started talking. We ended up on msn messenger and have talked every day since.

Face to face....we met at my airport. I did not recognize him because his pictures were a couple of years old. He walked up to me and I knew. We hugged and kissed and said I love you and the rest is history!

I had used yahoo messenger to talk to my friends around where i live to meet up in games and such while i was online. at the time one of my good friends was talking to a girl here in the states. On Christmas eve he sent me an IM saying he knew this girl from indonesia that was friends with this girl he was talking to. They all chatted in the same chat room together. i sent her an IM, and then from there on there was'nt a night i did'nt want to talk to her. after 2 years of chat or so i knew i had to go see her. we knew each other, we loved each other, we used cam, voice chat, and called each other.

I had never flown in my life before, never even been to an airport. but i flew all the way to Indonesia from Cincinatti, OH. and i don't regret any of it. i got there and it was hotter than hell i was sweating all over :D I did'nt understand the customs and immigration procedures. it was all new to me. and then finally i made it out and all these people standing around yelling at me for a cab and such. I'm looking around for my girl and i don't see her. and then i hear "Jim!" :D I looked over and as soon as i did, i seen her :) looking so adorable and that beautiful smile she always has :) I walked right over to her and just said, "hey baby doll" :D just like i had always said before. she treated me like a king :) i'll never forget it. She started wiping the sweat off my face with a tissue :D right then and there she was taking care of me :) I had the best 2 weeks of my life with her in Indo. I'm hoping i can for the rest of my life here in the states........

Oh wow this one is weird. I met this guy named Amine from Algeria about 3 years ago on www.doyoulookgood.com. My friend had played around on the site, it's for networking and mostly for French Canadians. I met him and he wanted to improve his English and I wanted to improve my French. So we stayed in touch quite a bit over time. One night when I was in Atlanta, I wanted to see how my friend Amine was doing! So I went ahead and called him, but some other guy answered. I freaked out and hung up. I thought I dialed the wrong number. Then I called back and started a rapport with this guy. It turned out to be Amine's brother. We kept in touch very often through the phone.. then well.. we fell in love. We exchanged pictures by mail. Then I finally convinced him to come to the internet cafés. We really hit it off so well and we think alike on so many levels. I went to visit him in Tunis and Algiers in December, and now it's February and I'm going back again! So i'm really excited. Hope everyone is doing well and good luck.

There are some here who do not think it is possible to fall in love with someone in a short time, but given the distances, you have to deal with the time you have. Life is short too.

In the end it should not matter how you found your happiness, only that you did.

it`s not only a matter of distances....when something feels so right why would you want to deny it, instead you acknowledge it and work towards building a life together....

my fiance and I were members of the same message board, I was intrigued but rather oblivious.....he, on the other hand, kept close track of my posts and opinions and decide to contact me directly via chat in september of 2005.... we soon addmited to both ourselves and the other that we feel very strongly about each other and decided to do something about it.... we met in person this month, when he flew in to spend a week with me... all nervousness of the first meeting very soon disolved in our first kiss  ...and just a few days ago we started the K1 process :D

Well, my post was actually an attempt to keep the people who like to critisize others about how "significant" time was to building a relationship and how there experience was "much better" because they met in the old fashion way from posting. I see they didn't. They are entitled to that opinion I guess, but it seems ignorant.

Anyway, as you can see from my profile, my fiance lives in Russia so I totally understand long distance relationships !! :D We cooresponded via email like many people here and met in person at the Moscow airport. We had a connection based on our corespondance, but I really did not expect much to happen when we met. But it did ! And I was VERY happy (L) We spent almost all of out time together while I was there, living together. We just seemed very right for each other, so I asked her to marry me on the Russian Christmas day (Jan. 9) and started the K1 process...

K1 Visa Process long ago and far away...

02/09/06 - NOA1 date

12/17/06 - Married!

AOS Process a fading memory...

01/31/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD package for Olga and Anya

06/01/07 - Green card arrived in mail

Removing Conditions

03/02/09 - Mailed I-751 package (CSC)

03/06/09 - Check cashed

03/10/09 - Recieved Olga's NOA1

03/28/09 - Olga did biometrics

05/11/09 - Anya recieved NOA1 (took a call to USCIS to take care of it, oddly, they were helpful)

:luv: it`s actually funny that, in case of my fiance and me, we were actually fighting the idea of being in a long distance relationship because we are both very physical people (words are for us not the main mean of expression) ...... only after realizing we are both acting and thinking like we are in a relationship, even though we firmly decided against it  did we consciouslly admit it to ourselves

*snicker* just goes to show how irrelevant mind is over heart and soul.....

for us the actual meeting in person was just the final "proof" of how right we are for each other

we are very lucky, I guess, that even with a 6 hours time difference we are able of having at least four hours of chat during the day/every day, while weekends are spent over the phone and chat simultaneously....emails are just a side perk :P
