My fiance is here too. Picked her up in Chicago on Thursday. :) We are so happy to finally be together.

Beware that the Chicago POE was no cakewalk. For us, it was the most stressful part of the whole interview. The office was rude, pessimistic and overall just very doubtful and negative. Our relationship and all our papers got scrutinized for over 35 minutes. He thought long and hard about letting her into the US. Was extremely stressful...just a heads up, don't overlook the POE interview, be prepared to answer a lot of questions.

But we are here together now and so happy to be moving onto the next chapter of our lives together.

embrace the journey.

just a question.. although my POE is at DC.. do I need to bring all our papers for the immigration to check? or just the Yellow Sealed envelope together with the Visa? :)

Can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you..

It is my impression that you will need your passport with the new visa in it, and the sealed envelope given to you by the interviewing embassy/consulate at your POE. Refer to DOS Nonimmigrant K-1 visa FAQs for details.

Good luck.

Hello all fellow October 2011 K-1 filers:

Just an update. I hope that all of us by now have been successful in our respective visa journeys. How time has zipped by since those days when we had all sent in our initial I-129F petitions. We were fortunate to not have had any RFEs or inordinate delays, just the usual slow and plodding immigration shuffle. Sometimes the pace seemed akin to watching paint dry or watching the grass grow...

What a difference a few months can make in the immigration time line! The visa interview in Guangzhou was successful. The Seattle POE was relatively painless. The marriage went off without a hitch. My now-wife and stepson got their 2-hr conditional green cards last November 2012. The AOS interview in Seattle could best be described as "murky." My new family are now both enrolled in school, the wife in ESL classes, the son has a full college load (Calculus, Physics, and English Composition). I was recently able to get residency status for tuition purposes for the son at the local community college. It certainly helps the budget. The wife is preparing to take driving lessons, yikes!!!! another crazy Chinese woman behind the wheel of a motor vehicle!!! Right now, I am the chief chauffeur...... Our family is working hard on our version of the American dream.

We are about 18 months out from the opening of our ROC application window. Truthfully, we haven't given it much thought. We just keep putting joint evidence stuff in a desk drawer, and will sort it out later..... :P Right now, we are just living life, and not thinking much about USCIS.... :P

The CSC was processing petitions much slower when we initially filed, then they sped up, then they slowed down again. The same has been true for VSC except not at the same time as the CSC. That seems to be a regular cyclical occurrence. This site still has great Guides that has all of the stuff you need to get your visa. Be kind to each other, and try to enjoy the ride. :D

Take care and Happy trails to all !!!
