Quick question!

Hey all,

I went to get my visa today (looks so nice in a passport, doesn't it) :) Anyway, my question isn't about the visa but about that envelope that they give you that you can't open. Maybe I'm making a big thing out of nothing, but mine looks like it's been opened. The seal that they put on the flap on the back of the envelope isn't aligned and there is tape across the flap like the envelope has be opened and sealed back up. If you look on the back of your envelopes, you will see what I mean. Does anyone else have theirs like that? I just don't want to get the the POE and have them tell me that they think I opened it. I know a few of you just got their visa and still have that envelope in hand. Do you think I should email the consulate and ask about it, or am I just being paranoid?? Geez, and here I thought my worries were over (for a while, anyway)

I seem to remember that the envelope had been sealed in some way (security tape, or with a special marking) that the POE would instantly know if it had been tampered with. Does it look like it's been obviously messed with? is the seal broken?

I would perhaps for your own piece of mind email them, and if possible include a clear picture of the area in question and ask them if it's ok.

I remember there being tape. I also remember that my wife placed it in her suitcase.. I said no way! and put it in the safe in our suite. We had to be very carefull with it so it didnt get torn or anything. It looked like it was about to fall open. But I dont remember exactly, it was a long time ago and they dont give it back to you when you cross.

:D Congratulations. Several have posted that the envelope looks ratty but the POE seems to be ok with them.

mine had a big piece of tape across the flap and a stamped seal...can't remember if it was wax or not. The officer at POE very carefully broke the seal so as long as that's intact, I would try not to worry.

Mine is still with me and I have just checked it, there is no tape on it and it looks intact. I would say you e-mail the consulate, it does not hurt. It is best for mind to be at peace once you get an assurance from them. I don't think it is anything serious though.

Dusy, mine looks like yours. Scotch tape and the seal isn't lined up (there is a gap where the flap is).

You know, evilcanuck, I have read on some posts that some of the guys at the POE don't even know how to handle those envelopes and that they either ask someone there, or call their supervisors. I thought about going through one of the smaller borders, but I think I will go to where there is more traffic.

Hope they enjoyed their pizza
