I have a question I hope someone can help me with.... I was divorced back in 2009 but i have never needed to use my divorce info for anything before now so I'm not sure how to use it. I know it sounds simple but I dont want any errors on my paperwork. I am getting my I-129F and G-325A filed out for my petition packet and I'm not sure what to put for the "date and place of termination of marriage" and "date and place of marriage". Do they want the city or the church name? Do they want the court house the divorce was filed at or the city?? PLLEEEAAASSSEEEE help.... and thanks in advance!

What you need is a True Certified Divorce Decree Stamped and A Seal from your Courthouse to supply with your 129-F Petition. You will avoid a RFE and save time by doing this.

The Form (129-F) askes to document you are free to Marry.

Include every page from the Courthouse. Without the seal and dated papers you most likely will get a RFE until it is supplied.

The cost is about $5.00 and send the Original and make a copy. So you need to go to the Courthouse. My thoughts and experience with this same situation.

The city of the county were the divorce papers were filed. And the date on the decree is the date you were divorced.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

In California, you need to get a certified copy of your divorce decree from the County. You can go to the clerks office and give them the original divorce file number and they can provide you with a certified copy with the raised seal on the back. The date of the dissolution of marriage will be listed in the file.

No RFE here. I simply printed my 12-page Divorce Judgement from an email attachment sent to me by my lawyer, and we flew through USCIS: NOA1-->NOA2 in 85 days (VSC, Russia).

Thank u very much everyone, guess i will get a certified copy just to be on the safe side... I know Nigeria likes to stress u out over small things... better safe then sorry.

It's not to be on the safe side. It's absolutely required with the petition. It's in the I-129F form instructions, page 3:

If either you or your fiancé(e) were married before, give copies of documents showing that each prior marriage was legally terminated.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
