First of all I want to thank everyone on this forum. It's so helpfull. It's my first post, but I was reading VJ for a while now :) I got married to the man i love this September. I've been in US already since 2004, came on J1 ( no 2 year rule), exchanged status to B2, overstayed B2 in 2005, since then I was out of status. Now my husband going to file for my "AOS". We can't really afford a lawyer right now, though everyone suggesting one because of my overstay. I think we can try to do it on our own. Just need to confirm where to start from, what forms to fill: I-130 with I-485, I-864 and all supporting documents, and application for employment card. Is it correct? I read a VJ guide many times, but wondering if there is anything else needed 'cause of my long overstay.

Overstay is overlooked for immediate relatives of USCs, so that won't be an issue. Just do not leave the country until you have your green card in hand, or you'll be banned from re-entering for 10 years.

The forms are listed under the "Guide" section of VJ. You seem to have the right ones already - I-130, I-485, I-765 for employment document, and then I-693 for medical check and I-864, affidavit of support. The only one you should not fill out is the I-131 for travel document, as you cannot use it because of the overstay.

The guide you want to be looking at is this one: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

There are no waivers that are relevant to your case.

No, that was my point. It's forgiven so it won't be an issue and you don't need a lawyer or waivers for it - so long as you don't leave the country.
