Two nights ago I got into a fight and not knowing that cops are just right across so i got arrested and spent overnight in the county jail..

We came out from the bar and then a drunk a guy disrespected me and my female friends, he was cursin me and taunting me so i kinda got aggresive and trying to protect my friends but my friend stopped and grab me, and the drunk guy walked away. After a few seconds i got the chance to go after him and pushed him, he fell on the pavement hitting his back and head on the pavement and the cops just came out and arrested me and sent me to jail. Got out after 7hours, thanks to bailbonds for covering the $8,000 bail. I only paid 10% of it.. But it doesnt mean its over. My courtdate arraignment is on the 15th.

By the way i just got my green card 3-4 months ago. So what are the consequences? Will they revoke my green card and deport me? Im so worried..

When I was young . . . which was a long, long time ago, teaching somebody manners was a way of life. If somebody grabbed your girlfriend in the bar you took him outside and beat the living daylight out of him until he apologized to the Lady. The only people who got punished this way were the a**holes who didn't know how to behave or when to stop drinking. This was an accepted way behavior control even in the 1970s in Europe and it worked as intended.

On the same token, kids played pirate and bandits games, strolled around and sometimes they got hurt and got a bleeding knee or a scrape on their elbow. Big f*cking deal.

Today's society, especially in America, is so pussified, it makes me wanna puke. Protection everywhere, don't step over the yellow line, don't lean outside, labels that tell consumers not to use that umbrella as a parachute and that coffee is hot and so on.

But back to the issue at hand.

You need to deal with how America deals with this. They need 8 coward cops to arrest one guy here. In Germany one cop does this. They overreact with everything. America is the land of extremes and you need to adjust to this. The next time something like this happens either walk away or make sure nobody's watching when you do what you need to do.

But you will not be deported for this. Explain to the judge that it was self defense and you will get a slap on the wrist.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

If this is the story he goes to court with, it is not self defense.

He needs a lawyer, and needs to stop posting on the internet until this is resolved.

To the OP, I would recommend you use the contact form at the bottom of the webpage, and have this topic nuked.

You're joking, right? As far as anyone is concerned, it's an anonymous posting on the internet. On the extremely remote chance that some overly ####### DA is reading this and thinks it's related to a case he's prosecuting, he'd need to convince a judge to issue a subpoena in order to get the records from VJ. Even if he manage to do that (unlikely any judge would issue a subpoena based on what was posted here) the only thing they'd get is an email address and IP address, both of which could still be anonymous. The email address could be at Yahoo or Google, and the IP address could be from some Starbucks or McDonald's.

Seriously, I was a site administrator for a site with a large web forum, and much more serious stuff than this was posted there. We never once received a subpoena from any court in the US or any other country.

From what he says, it sounds like the cops witnessed it. It's not self-defense, but it's not a deportable crime either. Simple assault.

Not to torture the poor OP more than he already is doing on his own, his post would show on a simple Google search, just as my post here can be found almost as fast as I click the add reply button. First thing anything a lawyer will tell a client is, "Don't say anything. Don't discuss this with anyone."

That's not the point. Finding a post on any topic anywhere on the internet and proving who made that post are completely separate issues. This isn't Facebook.

Delete this thread if thats the issue. It became a debate room instead of getting helpful info and advice.

Keep all your paperwork. You may need it later in your journey. Good luck.
