Another option is to hope for the DREAM act to pass. The chances of that happening in the near future are pretty grim. The Democrats couldn't get that passed when they controlled the Senate, the House, and the Presidency. I seriously doubt they'll be picking up seats in the November election. In fact, I'm guessing the next election is going to be a bloodbath for the Democrats, figuratively speaking.

Jim,

I am quite certain that exactly the opposite is going to happen.

God knows how very disillusioned I am with Obama. I believed in the change he proposed, implementing politics that are different, not as usual. Little did I know back then that multi-millionaire Obama is also a member of the Corporatist Party of America, funded in large part by Goldman-Sachs. He's not much better than the rest of those in Congress--with very few exceptions--who need to do what their corporate masters tell them in order to get elected or reelected. Did you know that Obama needs to raise about $1,000,000,000.00 for his reelection campaign? You know how much Reagan raised? $0. He used the few pennies we donate when marking our tax return. Obama won't get a penny from me, so where is that money coming from? The corporations who own everything, media, politicians, and the Supreme Court included.

Now, that being said, of all those evil people who are running for the Presidency, Obama is the least evil. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see him hanging next to Bush and Cheney from a very tall Redwood tree, for crimes against humanity, for treason, and for many other things, but compared to those Devils, he's just a baby devil. Although I would love not to vote and see a Reptilian become President, only to see the country go so deep into the dumpster that it will create a revolution like many such before in other countries, my wife warns me that the U.S. absolutely cannot afford that. I personally would not survive it economically either, lose everything from savings to business to real estate I worked for so hard. So I will vote for Obama, while cursing his soul and the camel he rode into town with.

But in regard to immigration and the DREAM Act, make no mistake, it will become law no matter who becomes President.

Let me run some numbers by you to illustrate why we cannot afford not to pass it, no matter what name we will give it.

There are an estimated 11,000,000 illegal aliens in the U.S. Deporting a single one costs us, the American taxpayers, about $11,500 on average. Multiplied by 11 million that's $1,265,000,000,000,000.00. Yep. We don't have that kind of cash, not even a fraction of it; in fact, we are so deeply in debt that we maxed out all of our credit cards. That's why we just recently had the issue with raising the debt ceiling. The U.S. government came very close to declaring bankcruptcy. Furthermore, if we deport about 250,000 illegal aliens per year, it would take us 44 years to deport all 11 million. We can't deport more, because that would cost money, more money for CBP and ICE agents, more money for judges, more money for deportation centers, and so on. But we don't have more money, and we, the American taxpayers don't want to pay more to deport more.

Therefore, we need to get relief from the overwhelming cost somewhere, and the one group of illegal immigrants who do the least harm are the children in school. It doesn't matter what we want, or would like to do, we will have no choice but to pass the DREAM Act for purely financial reasons.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
