My wife and I are about to send in our Report of marriage. It is requiring 4 each size 1.77"x1.37" photos.I have been doing photography for many years and printing my own photos. I use a above average camera and printer and hihg quality photo paper. Can I do our own photos rather than paying for "passport"photos ?Same question on amending my wife's passport.I hope this doedn't sound like i'm trying to be cheap;I just do't see the sence in paying for something we can do ourselves.

Chances are no matter how good a job you do, they will be rejected by the Filipino embassy/consulate in favor of one of the vendors inside the complex. In our case, the blue background was not the correct hue, nor was it even enough for them to accept.

ETA: I think the new passports are using biometrics, so I don't think passport photos are even necessary.

1) They have to be blue background, and

2) They want the money for themselves.

http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/consular%20services/CONSERV-ePassport.pdf

2. Do not bring passport pictures. Passport pictures are to be taken by the Consulate (Pls. see Req. # VI);

VI. REQUIREMENTS FOR PICTURES

Pictures are no longer required. Biometrics of applicant (including photo, thumbprints and signature) will be captured

i had my report of marriage to Philippine Consulate in Washington DC last July... i submitted Philippine passport size in WHITE BACKGROUND... i had to make my own picture since the standard size of passport here is 2x2... so i have to customized... and it costs a lot for just 6pcs of pictures...

my husband and i took a picture of ourselves then edit it online and send to Walmart for printing... and it costs us only $.41... compared to 8pcs of Walgreens for $48..

A little help, 2x2 white background, go to CVS etc. This is one of the least expensive things you will do in the process. Do some of your own research so you do not get an RFE, delays cost money also. Research is reading VJ and USCIS actual instructions. The people who have the most problems with immigration are usually do not do this and it is caused by their own actions and statements.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

You can use this site: http://www.epassportphoto.com/ Then choose Philippines from the drop down menu. You upload a photo you took, then a cropping tool will appear with the country's specifications. You center the cropping tool properly, and the site will do the rest. It will produce a 4" x 6" picture with 5 of the photos, all cropped.

This is the site I used for NVC, medical, and interview. Never had a problem.

Just make sure you follow any photo requirements for where you're sending in the photos, like background color and stuff.

PS...You're right about the size of the photos for reporting the marriage...the stores here in the U.S. are geared up to give you the photo size only for a U.S. passport...the wrong size.

my husband can prove it... but i don't think i can...

id rather spend a lot for pictures that i can hang on the wall that i can see everyday, than waste money for a thing that i know i can have it for cheap...

Philippine officials tend to be ####### retentive when it comes to such requirements. However, luckily for us, the USCIS or the DOS doesn't seem to worry that much. We bought passport photos for both of us in the Philippines, quite a bit smaller than the ones listed in the requirement, and used those for the I-129F and later on for the DS-230, with no problem.
