A-number comes with the NOA-2. I haven't heard that A-number is that helpfull to check your application status. If you have the receipt # from USCIS, that will be the good way to check the status.

We just mailed the application. When and how are we going to get A-number? I heard that it's easier to verify the status of your application if you have it.

It is the payment receipt #. Once you have it, you can check online the status of the paperwork at the USCIS website.

A# is your Alien Card Number (green card #), it will be given to you after your interview. You can find that inside your passport. Just wait for your receipt # or your NVC number if you want to follow up the status of your petition.

No. This is wrong. Receipt # is totally different fromA-Number. Receipt # is associates with the petition files at USCIS, howeverA-number stays your life time and generate during the approval of the petitionand also becomes the identification number of your green card.

Where am i going to get it? NOA1 or NOA2?

Beneficiary will be assigned with A# once you get NOA2, when your petition gets approved. That number will be on her green card as well.
