Waiting for GC/SSN but received a I797C instead?!?

Hey There,

I had my CR1 visa approved on Aug 31, 2011 in Montreal. Received my passport, and POE package a couple days later, then arrived in the US on the 10th of September. Since then, I've been waiting for my GC and SSN to come in the mail. I received 2 envelopes today from USCIS, neither had either card in them, but instead 2 separate I-797C forms. One stating that USCIS had received my POE paperwork/Welcome Notice, and the other stating I would have to wait another up to 2 months for my cards. Is this delay normal?!? I had a friend who had her CR1 visa approved on the same day/same location and already has her GC/SSN.

Call then and find out whats going on....May be someone fell asleep and forgot to process ur GC on time...They will give you the generic answers but tell them you want to speak to a tier 2 officer
