You missed the point, it's not about "facts" it's about the Global Warming crowd using any unrelated situation to demonstrate a need for their agenda.

Global warmers are slaves to science. Science back then laid the blame at over-ploughing, hence the warmers would not have had scientists on their side

So no, the warmers would not /could not have claimed climate change in the absence of scientific evidence or the scientist's support for it.

There is a ton of scientific evidence now, but religious people don't like science and therefore deny the scientific data

I live in San Antonio. Droughts are part of the regular weather pattern here, and have been for centuries.

However, we got three very good drenchings in the last 2 weeks or so - and the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone (our water source) got even more. Native plants as well as imported drought-tolerant species immediately started blooming away again.

A lot of Saint Augustine lawns may have croaked but that's a good thing, really - most people are taking the opportunity to replace the old-fashioned water-hoggers with xeriscape plants which are not only beautiful, but much more suited to surviving the South Texas summers without wasting all our water.

as those dollars have grown, so has the need to "make their case" for even more.

2. Over plowing was not the only reason at all, Severe droughts plagued the area, it was a combination of those factors.

The Dust Bowl, or the Dirty Thirties, was a period of severe dust storms causing major ecological and agricultural damage to American and Canadian prairie lands from 1930 to 1936 (in some areas until 1940). The phenomenon was caused by severe drought coupled with decades of extensive farming without crop rotation, fallow fields, cover crops or other techniques to prevent wind erosion.[1]

3. If the Field of science is free from politics and corruption.... by God it's the only thing that is, perhaps we should elect Scientists rather than lawyers to Washington...... but then again we would have spent tons responding to the "Global Cooling" which never happened.

Big 12 is a college conference that the University of Texas is a member of. They got greedy and signed a $300,000,000 TV contract with ESPN and then refused to share the proceeds with other members of the conference. Since then 3 conference members/universities have left that conference for greener pastures, and a few more will leave within the year. Football mainly.

My education continues apace, alas I only have 40 years left and I don't think its long enough to learn the intricacies...

In my defense, I should say my Polish pal had been in England 40 years and could only just speak English - so I am further on with integration than he was

The good news is that I have been a shooter since 1960 and the USA is shooter heaven - no probs there with getting up to speed with the culture. Shooters good - hooters bad (and scary).

As far as warming is concerned , only the long term trend is relevant and a hot summer in Texas proves nothing, whereas increasingly hot summers in a pattern never observed before, proves something. If the anti warming folkl would admit its getting warmer it would be a good start - then we could argue over the reason.

England had a period just before the American revolution when it was so cold the English channel froze over. In the 1400's it was so warm that people grew grapes.

However, these effects did not show charts like the present where the RATE of change was so marked.

So we now have to agree on

A Its getting warmer

B The rate of change is faster than ever seen

and THEN we can argue why.

I say its because homosexuality is now acceptable and people in Texas don't pray and tithe hard enough any more and few families speak in tongues over dinner and Mexican food is so hot that its warming the State up.
