Hi all.. We all know abt AP and how it seems to be endless.. I am just trying to gain perspective so how many of you are in AP and for how long have you been? We have been for almost 3 weeks New Delhi Embassy, what about you? Not that misery loves company but at least you know you are not alone!!

Met 10/2009Married 9/13/2012 in indiaFiled I-130 12/4/2012Assigned MSC case # 12/6/20122/14/2013 called uscis and on 1/30/2013 case moved from MSC to Chicago local office.4/17/2013 letter from senator durbin's office that a inquiry will be made on my case and to allow 30-60 days6/7/2013 NOA2 !!!!! while I am visiting my baby!!!!7/12/2013 letter from senator and copy of USCIS email to them stated our case heading to NVC 7/23/2013 NVC # assigned!!!!!!7/25/2013 called for Invoice identification number and had them add yash's email( Yash sent DS3032 via email nex day)7/29/2013 rec'd email from NVC with DS3032 and AOS invoice, paid today $88 mailed hardcopy of DS 30328/1/2013 AOS pkg mail via fed ex8/6/2013 AOS rec'd @NVC8/12/2013 DS3032 accepted IV invoiced8/15/2013 IV fed ex'd9/9/13 dreaded checklist asking for DS260 b/c DS230 obsolete<p>9/11/13 electronic submission of DS260 accepted
9/17/2013 called NVC case was completed as of today

10/1/2013 rec'd interview letter and date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11/4/2013 INTERVIEW

RESULT....APPROVED!!!

11/12/2013 email to pick up visa!!!

09/09/15-12/2016 ROC +interview= appproved in over a year

12/21/2016 fedex'd N-400 application and per fedex was rec'd

Over 8 weeks in New Delhi.

I tricked the DOS into admitting it's a background check, so at least I now know that much.

Someone else from India just got out of AP after 3.5 months but I think it was form Mumbai.

I think your AP is more related to checking the validity of the relationship, those seem to go faster so hopefully you'll be out soon.

ANYONE ELSE WHO POSTS - if you know why you're in AP, can you share that too so that we can get a feel for the time it takes based on if it's background check related or other. Thanks!

This subject is very consulate specific. The reasons someone might be put in AP in one country may be completely different from the reasons someone might be put in AP in another country. The length of the AP is also heavily dependent on the consulate and the reason for the AP. If the OP wants useful feedback then it would probably be better to ask this question in the regional forum.

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

its administrative processing, has no timeline, can make you feel lost since you dont have a cut off date before it is done.

Unfortunately, it also stands for Advance Parole which is when you are granted permission to leave the country and come back after arriving and marrying on a K1 which is a single use visa (maybe for other visas too). Advance Parole is tracked on the Immigration Timelines page of VJ, so I didn't want you to be confused if you saw it there and thought it was a guideline for Administrative Processing.

I wouldn't be so abrasive towards that fellow, if I were you. He is brilliant, and you may very well need his advice one day. On top of that, he was giving valuable advice regarding your posted topic for anyone who would be wise enough to heed it. Thanks, JimVaPhuong - I will keep that in mind should I get hit with AP in the future.

2009/10/07 - NOA 2

2010/01/11 - interview; result - approved

2010/01/18 - received passport with visa in the mail

2010/02/05 - embassy calls and asked to return visa for a "correction"

2010/02/09 - fiance returns passport with visa to embassy

2010/03/09 - embassy tells us we are in "administrative review"

2010/09/07 - fiance receives passport back with canceled visa and letter; our petition has been returned to USCIS

2010/11/08 - 2nd NOA 1 (I-129F ROUND 2)

2011/04/19 - service request response - 6 months additional extensive background checks
