Hello all,

I need your input on the scenario descibed below:

My uncle who is a US citizen filed for his daughters who are both under 18. They arrived the US a couple of months ago and have since obtained their green cards.

My understanding is that the kids could apply for a US passport based on the information from the link below. Am I correct?

You are correct, the children are US citizens and can apply for US passports.

Under the Child Citizenship Act, the children are now automatically US citizens if they meet all the requirements; 1) under age 18, 2) has LPR status, 3) a US citizen parent, 4) live in the legal custody of the US citizen parent, and 5) unmarried.

US citizenship is automatic and no filing is required. The children can apply for US passports as proof of US citizenship.
