Hi there everybody, I'm kind of worried today as I received the relocation to local office for interview notice in the mail... I'm not sure if I was unlucky or the evidence I submitted with my I-751 wasn't enough.

I submitted my initial I-751 about 10 days later than my expiration date, I did include an explanation for the reason and included the following:

  • 3 months of joint bank account statements
  • Print out of our vehicle insurance with both of our names on it
  • Affidvats from a friend and my boss
  • Electricity bill with both of our names on it

About 2 weeks later I received the document received notice, joy right? No.

About another week later I received ROE letter, which I spent about a month to prepare, which included the following:

  • 08, 09, and 10 Fed and State tax return
  • More bank statments
  • Few more bills with our names on it
  • Few photos of us and friends / family
  • A confirmation page of our booked flight to vacation

Am I just unlucky, or the evidences I submitted aren't good enough?

Please advise, I'm very nervous and upset right now...

Get statement of benefits from your HR - you did designate your spouse on any life insurance, unpaid salaries, emergency contact?

Medical insurance cards - as dependent on your plan. Any bills from doctors naming you or spouse for service usage. Any explanation of benefits sent for either one of you to your home address.

Any greeting or holiday cards sent to both of you from friends, family.

Why didn't you send your taxes for the past couple of years?

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Thanks for your reply!

Here's the tricky part... my work is a small business, and we simply don't offer spouse to be part of the insurance since the works pays 100% of it... Life insurance? We are in our mid-20s I don't think we need that. As for the cards... well, in our culture we don't do that, that's the thing a lot of western customs aren't popular among us.

As for the taxes? We married in 08, not before.

Meh, I hope it's simply because I filed the i751 10 days after my expiration date...

That's still 2 years of taxes - 2008, 2009, 2010 - should've sent those in as it shows married filing jointly as part of financial co-mingling. They DO want to see those so if you haven't filed, NOW would be the time to do it and get copies of that or tax transcripts. There was also some credit back in 2008 so why forgo money if it was coming to you?

Never too late for life insurance - even basic one.

Wills, power of attorney for finance or medical issues? I don't buy the we're too young - marriage is about being covered IN CASE something happens to either one of you and the other is left with decision making (health, money...)

Think about it some more - this coming from someone who just started her 30s.

Edit: I see you only just joined - there is a lot to learn USCIS wise when you have a family member from a foreign country.

You probably have an interview because you filed late. Get every scrap of evidence you can find. Good luck.

Also noticed your papers don't trail for 2 years. You are supposed to prove 2 years of marriage in your papers and co-mingling. Not 3 months and little bits here and there of recent things. Papers spanning the whole 2 years.

Thanks you guys...

Actually for the tax, they were all filed, all e-filed and they all include receipt form both the Feds and States. I never file our taxes late.

I am thinking the same as well due to the fact I filed 10 days late. A stupid mistake on my end but I'll try to grab as much documents as I can in addition to what I already filed.

I'm just nervous about it... meh, the thoughts of "what if" is going to keep me awake for a week now. Looks like my wife is going to ask me what's wrong again lol. I am the ROC-ee, my wife is born in the States citizen.

Any other advises or similar experiences? I appreciate it!

PS just the bills, only my electricity bills has both of our names on it, the other bills since they never understand the important of evidence, they only have my wife's first name as the addressee's MIDDLE name, for a month, which I asked to change since I filed the ROC. Meh...
