VSC sure is taking its time -____- It turns out I can't get a new drivers license without my new green card.... #######.. (or so they say.. even though I showed them the extension letter and everything)

Wish they'd hurry up.

I am sorry to hear that, although I have to say that it would not be very logical for government to deny people a right to have valid DL just because they are waiting for removal of conditions. After all, we (people waiting for removal) are still allowed to work legally and having DL is in most cases essential to keeping an employment.

Perhaps just try a different DL center? I had some issues with license renewal when I was waiting for my conditional GC 2 years ago to be mailed and only had the stamp in my passport that they give you after interview. We lived outside the large city, so the little licensing center that I went to seemed to be pretty clueless about passports from other countries, GC, etc... But we were moving at the time, so a week later I went to a different license center and they gave me DL that expires 10 years from issue date... which I think was an error too, it probably should have been shorter time.

From my individual experience, I concluded that person behind the counter processing your documents has a lot to do with success of getting the driver's license.

Best luck!

I agree! It seems that way with a lot of processes related to immigration. We are nervous for my in-laws to apply for a tourist visa to come visit because we know it depends on the mood of whoever is working at the consulate as to whether or not they will be approved, even though they have all the proof they need that they will not stay here. Maybe eventually everyone will get up the nerve to apply and they can come visit!

I haven't checked in in a while because I had a feeling there was no movement in VSC, and I was right :-/ Congrats to all those at CSC who have gotten approvals already, and thanks AngelinaBlack for the chart - good to know there is some kind of trend that may be affecting our delays. Hopefully all possibilities of snow & most major holidays are over now so VSC can get their butts to work! I would love to be a fly on the wall just seeing what exactly goes on there, how many people are asleep slumped over their desks or how many files haven fallen behind desks & file cabinets just "waiting" for approval.

Again, I am just thankful that we are together as a family during this process and that there is an end in sight!

Exactly! That is the thing that's keeping me sane...knowing that there are many on VJ still living thousands of miles away from their loved ones while waiting on USCIS; we are blessed!

Unfortunately I got an RFE. The RFE is requesting additional proof of a relationship. I was quite surprised by this as I provided.

Joint Tax returns

Joint Bank accounts

Health insurance cards for us both

About 30 photos of us together all over the United States

A will bequeathed to us each as the principal beneficiary

A living will designating each other as principal determinants

A jointly signed lease

I am planning on sending:

about 10 new photos

Affidavits from friends, family and our landlord attesting we are married

25 travel ticket receipts with both our names on them printed from Orbitz and Travelocity

I am resending the information about joint bank accounts + a Voided check

and resending the information about our jointly filed tax returns

Anyone feel free to chime in if you can think of anything else or if you think this is enough.

That stinks, I think your original list of evidence was quite strong! Do you have other documents that show co-mingling of address? I know we sent copies of our driver's licenses which have the same address on both. We also sent utility bills for PECO (under Phil's name) and Verizon (under my name) for the same months showing the same address as well.

I just pulled out Phil's biometric notice and they stamped it with the date we went for our appointment. They also stapled the number they gave us while waiting. This should serve as proof. Hopefully they did not take and keep your biometric appointment letter.. ?

I was very surprised and very annoyed we got an RFE. However I think my additional evidence is quite compelling. I've gathered 6 affidavits from friends, family and our landlord attesting to the validity of our marriage. I also have vacation travel receipts dating back to the beginning of our relationship to present day. I have a few new photos and will be submitting duplicates of our actual insurance cards this time.

I very rarely get offended in life but I am offended we got this RFE. We seem to get them every step of the way and I even used a lawyer up to the point my wife entered the US and he did excellent work. It seems they don't like the way we look as a couple or the country she is from. I know they need to prevent fraud but I feel they are being excessively critical without basis for our relationship. I will be very happy when this is done and hopefully is the last time I need to deal with the USCIS.

I understand that...it's a shame that those who do cheat the system make the process that much more difficult for those who actually have legitimate marriages but still get scrutinized under a microscope.

After this I know Phil & I won't be dealing with USCIS for 10 years because I doubt he'll apply for citizenship. In his mind there's really no point as he doesn't want to renounce his Canadian citizenship and the only privilege he loses is the one to vote.

He wouldn't have to renounce. Canada would not recognize his USA citizenship. In order to renounce, he would have to go in to the Embassy and tell them he wants to give it up.

I won't apply either most likely. I wouldn't vote here for the simple reason I find the entire system of elections and voting so mind swimmingly convoluted I cannot follow it. I'm a simple girl lol..but an entire year to choose just a candidate? :hehe:

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Anyone feel free to chime in if you can think of anything else or if you think this is enough.

Anything on retirement accounts (401k, pension) or life insurance that shows your spouse as the beneficiary?

Any way of showing healthcare related costs you have paid for your spouse? We lined up Health Savings account statements with Dr. office bills.

I would wonder if your RFE is randomly generated as a kind of quality control check. IMO, your evidence isn't much different than ours and we were approved.

NOA 2. Really?

Thanks for the feedback however I already put together the RFE package and mailed it just today. It was the most convoluted RFE I have received and I've gotten 3 so far. The other two were much more specific. This one contained a blue sheet of paper, it said RFE and my wife's case information. Stapled to it was a white sheet of paper stating various documents I could send to show a valid relationship. As I said I had already submitted all the suggested documents but now have gone above and beyond. My package contained the following new information. I also included some previously submitted info but won't list that.

6 Affidavits from, friends, family and my landlord as I stated. My landlord lives on site so he can attest he has seen us together almost daily. I included his business card also.

Bank statements from the inception of our account to present + a voided check (we previously sent only one statement)

Actual health insurance cards not photocopies. I happened to have duplicates on hand.

About a dozen new photos

Travel receipts. The travel receipts amount to almost $10,000 which I summed up and put in chronological order for them. Everything is in a tidy package with an index as the cover page.

I am praying this is enough. I am out of ideas of what else I could send them. If this fails I wonder what is next? An Interview? My wife and I would agree to an interview. We have lived together daily since we met and have nothing to hide. That said I would prefer not to have an interview as you never know what kind of oddball questions they are going to ask.

If I had to guess I think it will be enough. I think often the RFE's of this type are meant to scare you and see if you will step up to it or drop it entirely.

I agree that rfes are often just a way of "checking up" on people when they ask for the same stuff you already included. Knowing the government they have a specific quota to fill in that regard (I mean on cases that are over a certain time period). But including only one bank statement could have made them lean toward the rfe, I still think people should include as much financial proof as they can.... the post office isn't going to charge you an arm and a leg for those extra 15 or 20 papers so why not stuff them in there to make sure?
