And if you are unlucky one, like me, after 30 days has passed, they tell you to wait till 90 days has passed and you still haven't received the appointment. They did send me an email to tell me that Orlando office is too busy and hasn't got a slot available for my appointment time to be scheduled but they'll let me know as soon as the slot becomes available. DAH!!! Very frustrating....

Oh wow! So you still haven't gotten an appointment? That is frustrating! I hope it doesn't extend your actual RoC process any.

I'll have to look to see if anyone has had trouble getting into the Durham office.

I'll have to wait for the actual biometrics appointment I think. We have to leave the state to do them from where I live, and it's nearly 3 hours one way. Would hate to get all the way there on the chance and get turned away.

We are in a similar situation. All this is what makes us want to go ahead and file for citizenship...just to be done with USCIS!

Got the Biometrics letter yay! They hadn't forgotten us after all!

The annoying thing is I will be 36 weeks pregnant and we were really hoping not to have to travel. It's also after his license expires and we were hoping to go to the DMV on the same day so he won't have to ask off work twice. Oh well, I'm not meaning to complain, I just wish it was earlier. But at least we're not still waiting for the letter! Hopefully the rest of you will soon get your letters also

I just signed up to receive automatic updates on their website and noticed that the application # is different on the bio letter and the NOA1 letter. Is that common? The one on the bio letter was in the system for updates but not the other one.

That's right. You track it with the bio letter number. Congrats on getting that!

We can relate. My "manager" won't let me take time off of work to go and do biometrics with my wife so we might have to try a walk in. The classic part is that she is an immigrant too. Work can sure make things difficult.

You would think, but I know better than to believe that people who have been in a certain situation before but that "move on" every remember how it was - like working in a school system with principals & assistant principals who were once teachers, but they no longer remember how it was to be in the classroom day in and day out.

Fortunately for my husband, they are usually pretty understanding (we just try to not push the limits and ask for every little thing) and today they are letting him go at 3:45 to make it to the DMV by 4, so he is only losing 45 minutes. Also, since our appointment is the day after Thanksgiving, he is off anyway so didn't lose an extra day. The bad thing is, his company gives Thanksgiving day off paid but the Friday afterwards is unpaid unless you use a vacation day. There is not an option for him to work because the offices are closed that day, so since we like to save his limited vacation time to our trips to Guatemala, he has to take the day unpaid regardless. It's really kind of ridiculous, but c'est la vie!

Just got back from the DMV, it was pretty easy to renew his DL using the NOA1. We just had to show his green card, the NOA1 and his current DL (this is for VA at least).

The only thing I didn't know was that his new license now expires 1 year from the date on the NOA1, not 1 year from the date his green card expires, so it didn't actually extend it for one full year. Hopefully the process will be well over by the time next October rolls around.
