Screw Obama Care.

So, you don't think states should be able to pursue universal health care for their populations?

Obama Care is crooked mess, a sham pretending to be universal health care.

State level single payer systems are the way to go. Obama Care right now is just a roadblock on the way.

Are you the USC? If not, how do you like the health care in the UK?

PPACA isn't a roadblock for state level single payer systems. Vermont and Montana are demonstrating that it isn't.

PPACA is not a roadblock, it is not a help. It is just useless.

If it wasn't a roadblock, VT wouldn't be pulling out all the stops to bring their system into being sooner than the current date of 2017.

'Obamacare' has been a huge disappointment for progressives. It is a reflection of Obama's misguided efforts to be seen as willing to compromise with the gop. Single-payer has always been the goal for most progressives. It is a shame that Obama didn't hold to his liberal principles and insist on a 'medicare-for-all' kind of program. People know what medicare is and the gop would not be able to have such success at distorting that as they are having at convincing people of some absolute BS regarding the bill that was passed. The fact is that 'Obamacare' is a far more right-wing plan than single payer in that it gives private insurance a big boost.

Good news. This is the way to go. Healthcare for all and cut the Feds right out of it. RIGHT out of it.

If Vermont and Wyoming can do it, so can your state. Tell the Feds and the insurance companies to pound sand up their @ss and do it yourselves! The insurance companies lobbied heavily to defeat Vermont's law.

The plan is for the single payer system to take effect in 2014

I agree with you that maybe it will be best for the states to do this rather than the federal government. That way we will get 50 different versions of health care plans which can be compared. The superiority of the ones that are more 'socialized' :o will be more easily shown that way. A unified federal program might be easier to discredit when its costs and effectiveness cannot be directly compared with more or less socialized ones.

Is Wyoming also doing single payer?

Well, that would suggest that PPACA is an accelerator rather than a roadblock.

You really aren't reading too good these days.

The reason the date is currently 2017 is that this is the soonest VT is currently able to get a waiver from Shamacare. That makes it a minimum 3 year roadblock as of today. Why is that?

Simple answer lies in Shamacare's funding. We're paying for it up until 2014, but the core healthcare regulations and provisions (that we know about yet, thanks, Speaker Pelosi) don't take effect until 2014. So the administration is making sure every state pays for something they're not getting and can then opt out when these provisions are due to take effect. And who benefits in the meantime? The private insurance companies.

Shamacare stinks.
