Did you guys have your birth certificate translated from a certified translator,or you filed the package with a simple photocopy of the original birth certificate? Thanks a lot!

You need to get it translated and send in your original birth certificate and translated one, check the I-485 instructions page 2 under point number 4

I didn't send in a certification from the translator. Both of my copies were issued by the Civil Status Passport Department - Ministry of Interior in Jordan (which is the government entity that issues birth certificates for Jordanians). It has the header and stamp on both.They give us the Arabic and if we ask for the English they have them done. I just sent them in as a response to an RFE and attached a letter explaining, will they reject it?

For the CR-1 package we included an original (certified copy with the parents full names shown) and my spouse had a friend in translate it (actually my spouse did and then had the friend who also speaks english sign it). They just typed up a simple letter that covered the exact birth certificate. Also I believe you can request an international birth certificate in Italy. We requested 2-3 just because it's more difficult to get these once you're in the States. For the CR-1 package (not sure what you are filing-aren't you a K-1 visa?) we sent the original certified copy and also included a photo copy (both with a translation)...this was our experience, hope this helps.
