It's not about the religion, so your statement is incorrect. People who do violence come in all faiths, as evidenced by the report on religious rights in Israel that you've probably ignored. You say these things for effect, and it's clear that's all it is.

For now, I live in this country. I've also lived and worked in several Muslim countries, so I have first hand experience there. How many Muslim countries have you lived in? There are 53 of them.

How many of the 53 are democracies with term limits for the leader and a dis-established church and no blasphemy laws ?

I want all religions out of all politics including the 'Jewish State' which is about as Un-American an idea as it is possible to have.To do otherwise means the existence of backward and church dominated countries like Ireland which banned the sale of condoms !

I say get the church out of politics all over the world and out of everyone's bedrooms too.

about the time i saw someone who had something cut off was in ne iraq, iraqi army deserters who'd had an ear (or two) cut off for failing to follow orders.

eta: this, btw, was a culmination of about a year in the middle east.

You'd be surprised how many westerners, including celebrities, live and vacation in the ME. They like it just fine.

Two weeks self catering on the Gaza Strip or the 'Shat-al-Arab waterway ?

Yes Manchester airport is full of people lining up for that kind of vacation

I don't know anyone of Western Descent who would even contemplate a holiday in those countries unless its a gated community in Morocco or Tunisia as far from the locals as possible and with as many anti -diarrhea tablets as can be carried.

I went to Istanbul on September 12th 2001 (yes the day after 9-11), and I was pelted with horse chestnuts by the taxi drivers who saw I was western and thought the Muslim/christian final war had started - and Turkey isn't even a Muslim country officially

I lived 6 miles from 150,000 Muslims for 30 years - so I have some experience of them - they try and make out their ideas are compatible with western culture in order to gain the confidence of their 'hosts' - but they are not, and as much as I loathe right wing anti Muslims, they do (by chance) have a small inkling of what a Muslim country would be like - and they are right to fear it and to guard against it

You don't have to go to a Muslim country to experience it. Near my house in England, a father would cut the throat of his daughter for not marrying the one he told her to. That is a recurring situation in England and other western countries..

The Muslims on here deny stuff like that even though everyone knows it is true - and they lose all their credibility by denying what is apparent to all.

i was in morocco, in a couple of major cities during the thick of the whole cartoons fiasco, and all i saw were a few people picketing outside a couple places in casablanca. meanwhile the rest of morocco was going on with, you know, life. no heads rolling. i doubt sofiyya needs you to remind her that mecca is in saudi arabia. but since you insist on banging on about how you know so much more about what islam is and what muslims are than actual muslims themselves, i'll just leave you to your fun and games.

If you're going to expect credibility talking about what goes on in Muslim countries, then, ya, you need to have spent some time in some of them. I've lived and worked in the ME&NA for most of my life. Reading the silly posts here is knowing that there is a lot of BS on this thread and pretty much any of them dealing with Muslims, Islam, Israel or Muslim countries.

Rather than hide in the smoke, why don't you comment on the daughter killing antics of British Muslims and the link I posted ?
