Alright, - both of you 'stop it'. No more comments or personal attacks made by either of you to each other. What started as little jabs has turned into an exchange of bickering personal attacks. Anyone continuing to post such comments either in response or in continuation of the bickering, will be thread-banned.

Please return to the discussion of the topic at hand - fond memories of President Clinton.

I to am also shocked and to be honest quite appalled by the misogamy he has shown on this forum. It's rattled me so much that I don't even feel up the the task of looking for a job tomorrow.

Take the day off. Grab a beer. Obama will be there in the long run to take care of you. Plus you get that check every year for that oil.

Everyday for me has been a day off since I my contract was up last January. But thanks to George W. Bush and is successor Obama the checks have been rolling in. And I get that oil check direct deposited in less than two week.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Obama cares more than Bush ever did he never push for jobless claims and stimulus packages.

lol are you kidding me? Bush was the one who not only started bailing out Wall Street, Banks, and auto manufactures, he's the one who helped to boost unemployment. Iv'e been sitting on my ####### here at home eating, smoking, and drinking coffee while watching TV since January thanks to Bush and Obama. I can do this until next summer and still pay my bills. And seeing how I don't like working in the winter if I can help it...looks like I won't start looking for a job until around Spring time. B-)

What's the residency requirement to get one of those checks? Can I just move to Wassilla and get one, or do I have to live there for awhile?

You have to be a resident of the state of Alaska for one year. And if you get here in February like my wife did...well then it's a 23 month wait.

What's "EBT" money? And if it's welfare money, yes I do object. For peeps on unemployment...that means they had to work to get that money. It's not welfare. Iv'e never been on welfare.

Sure, it's a completely different situation. You totally aren't abusing the system.

Directing inappropriate personal comments at others is also now included in the thread-ban warning.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I wonder how much Kip and his employers have paid into the unemployment insurance fund over the years. When I got the boot back in 2001 thanks to my employer pumping up stock prices and earnings etc. I took a 6 day trip to Mexico.

I collected unemployment the entire time and lived off my stock options.

There's a difference between people who pay nothing into the system and collect a check, and people who pay into the system and never collect. I wont make it until 65 or 67 or whatever the age is now. So I'd like to take a piece of the $100k I've paid into it over time when I get the chance. Sorry to blow your socialist bubble. That will never work in this society.

I hope Kip takes all his oil money and unemployment compensation and spends it on hookers and alcohol because him and his employers have probably been paying into that fund for years.

A lot of guys I know that are in the trades...mostly single guys, drag up on a job during winter and take a few months off to go somewhere warm while collecting unemployment. When spring hits they go to the hall to take another call out.

Phillipines and Thailand use to be the two biggest vacation spots for the construction workers up here.

True and I would expect every person that supported extended unemployment to be very pleased to hear it is helping you.

If you have decided that you will be a tradesman for your career (and that is not a bad decision) then these kinds of things are generally understood, particularly in union jobs Though I would not expect a lot of others to understand the term "drag up".

For the guys in our trade, construction, I do not blame them if they run off for a couple months and get warm. If they can get by on their unemployment ($450 per week) plus what they saved working 60-70 hours per week in summer, I say "good for them" Vermont is a miserable place to work outside in the winter and the indoor work is few and far between and rarely lasts all winter.

Concrete work is virtually impossible without tenting and heating and the productivity of other work suffers so badly due to winter conditions that contractors simply are money ahead to suspend outdoor work.
