Another thought, work on your certifications if applicable. I know 6 sigma was the one they all wanted in addition to your required knowledge base a few years ago. Do something to "garnish" your education. If some employers are afraid of your qualifications, take a course at the local Community college to keep your skills honed and show them that "A" on your US transcript. Best of luck!!

I just managed to get a job after a couple of months trying, so hang in there! I was getting really annoyed and started to think there was no hope because I was an immigrant and not educated here in the US but if you keep trying something will come up eventually :)

Local government can be a very good bet for recent immigrants. Federal posts are often reserved for citizens, but at state, county, or city level, there's normally no such restriction.

The pay may not be wonderful, but the public sector is often more secure than the private sector, and generally comes with benefits. In our office we've got me (British), and numerous Mexicans, Canadians, Israelis, Filipinos to name just a few.

And government jobs cover a massive range of both professional and non-professional fields.

i know this is an oldish thread, but...

to the OP - one shouldn't have any issues AFTER the EAD card is in hand.

The situation you've described is 'prior to EAD in hand'.
