Last Minute Question for Affidavit of Support

My fiance got a raise recently and we want to know what to declare on the Affidavit as his income. Does he declare his current salary or the one he received on last year's tax transcripts? He is also self-employed so what does he declare for the total amount?

Do we do:

new salary + self-employment income from 2011

or

new salary + self-employment income from 2010

or

old salary + self-employment income from 2010 (as reflected in his tax transcript)

My fiance is also moving to a new job just a couple of days before my interview. There is absolutely no way he can get an employment letter done up and sent to me in time and obviously will not have any paystubs, so we were wondering if a written letter from him describing his situation as well as a copy of his offer letter from his new employer would be sufficient to prove that he is still making a suitable amount of income.

For the AOS you want to show current salary. i.e. what he earns today annualized. In this case it would be new or current salary + whatever he has earned self employed to this point, unless that self employment income is something concrete that will be earned throughout the year. The tax transcripts are to reflect a history of earnings and in cases where the person is relying on savings as part of the AOS qualifications, to show that the money was earned and not a "gift" which would be an indicator of immigration fraud.

I'd put down what was accurate the very second that you sign the form. If you expect a raise, get it, then sign the form. If you will change jobs and want to list the current job, sign the form now.

Anything can happen in this world, people get offers for great job and get lousy jobs. Best to make it legal on the date that you sign the form and then roll with the punches.

Hello!

My first question is..Is he coming for your interview? If so,then their would not a lot of problem if he will be there for your interview..My interview was took only 50 seconds because my fiance was there..The consular officer didn't ask for his tax papers, pictures, birth certificate etc. the only thing they asked from us are the NBI,NSO birth certificate,my passport and my cenomar.

If he'll not be there in your interview he needs to get his tax returns from his bank(the latest 2011),which my fiance also did..Even the consular officer didn't ask for it during our interview. The consular officer won't be more suspicious if he had a job while you we're in the process,If they asked you if what his work and if he still working just answer them rightfully and explain to them well his situation.i suggest that you do not worry about your last question, because its only days he got layed off before your interview and his still got a job...Your only problem I think Is his latest tax returns which is you will really need...Ask him to send it to you before its too late...Goodluck!

Hi everyone, we will follow the advice we got and fill out the Affidavit accordingly. He is using his present salary (which was the raise) plus what he made on self-employment. Thank you!

I would say the current 2011 salary. If the amount is different then 2010 tax return values, I would recommend getting an income verification letter from the employer..

More evidence u provide, typically the better it is.
