Hello Everyone,

I am on the process of preparing documents before time comes of interview. Does an "Intent to Marry Letter" be done in typewritten or in handwriting? What is acceptable by the USEM?

01-30-2012: Submitted AOS application thru USPS (Chicago Lockbox)
02-06-2012: Received Text/Email, application received by USCIS
02-10-2012: Received mail/hard copy of I-131 (NOA)
02-15-2012: Received mails/hard copies of I-765 & I-485 (NOAs) / Mail for Biometrics Appt.
03-06-2012: Biometrics Appointment done
03-14-2012: Received mail for Interview Appt on 16th April 2012.
04-04-2012: EAD/AP approved

Hello Everyone,

I am on the process of preparing documents before time comes of interview. Does an "Intent to Marry Letter" be done in typewritten or in handwriting? What is acceptable by the USEM?

Please :help:

Both are acceptable, make sure it is clear to read and understand your handwriting. I strongly recommend Typewritten its easier and there is a sample in the guide K1 section.

AOS package mailed on 12/16/08

AOS package delivered on 12/19/08

Check cashed on 12/26/08

NOA1 received on 12/30/08

Biometrics on 01/20/09

AOS interview on 04/30/09

EAD Card production ordered on 03/17/09

Hello, a question... the Intent to Marry Letter should be part of the I-129F package right? I did not remember bringing one during my embassy interview...

Ours was hand written by her and typed by me. It was sent with the I-129f.

03-03-2011 - Mailed I-129F application.

03-06-2011 - Packet received in Texas.

03-23-2011 - NOA1 received in mail, dated 03-09-2011.

05-31-2011 - RFE requested. They want better passport pictures of me.

06-06-2011 - Additional passport pics sent.

06-08-2011 - Evidence received and acknowledged. Whew!

06-16-2011 - NOA2 received!

07-20-2011 - Packet 3 Received!

Initially with the I-129F, but good to take it to the interview with updated date as part of proof of ongoing relationship.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number
Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere,and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

From what I have read it is not required for the interview.

No, its not a requirement for interview but I have read several times of people using an updated copy at the interview to show their commitment to the ongoing relationship.

The package that my fiancee received from the US Consulate clearly states that they require a New Intent to Marry letter dated within 30 days of the Interview. It doesn't matter if it is hand written or typed but it needs to be clearly written for the Consular Official to read it if you hand write it.

Ours before was typewritten more presentable that way, both works though as long as signed and dated.
