TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran raised the prospect on Tuesday of sending military ships close to the United States' Atlantic coast, in what would be a major escalation of tensions between the long-standing adversaries.

Sayyari gave no details of when such a deployment could happen or the number or type of vessels to be used.

It comes a few months after Iran sent warships through the Suez canal, after the fall of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, the first time the Islamic Republic had deployed navy vessels in the Mediterranean.

Can't attack a ship in International Waters....but you can always claim they crossed the border.....

Would serve them right.

Ensure your beneficiary makes and brings with them to the States a copy of the DS-3025 (vaccination form)

If the government is going to force me to exercise my "right" to health care, then they better start requiring people to exercise their Right to Bear Arms. - "Where's my public option rifle?"

It'd be a lot cheaper to wage war off the coast than on the other side of the world. The logistics are just so much easier!

In this case to be in international waters, they would need to be 322 km (200 mi) off the coast--and they don't exactly have naval weapons that have that range. If they approach close enough to be a threat, goodbye--and as you said, it WOULD indeed serve them right! :thumbs:

Within the 200-mile territorial limit, the US can easily use some obsolete torpedoes and sink Iran's entire navy.
